As someone who has one of those juicy government contracting jobs, I can tell you that they're a hell of a lot easier to get once you have one of those juicy government security clearances.
With a CV, you can spend a lot of time reviewing it and have it professionaly reviewed. If you apply to any job without having at least one other person proof it, you're insane.
I think one of the problems with email is that it's so easy to prepare and send one that many people don't believe that an email needs to be correct. I don't claim to be very proficient with the English language, but I at least run spell check before sending an email, which is more than I can say for almost all of my coworkers.
Well, in reality I've noticed that most of his work on Thursdays and especially Fridays is very buggy. Also, he rarely has to fix his own bugs. He tends to introduce bugs into other people's code by refusing to step back and understand the whole system when he's in a rush to get work done. Then, the bug appears to have been caused by the developer who normally maintains that section so that developer ends up fixing it. I don't feel that it's worth me and several other developers giving up one day a week just to fix the bugs that this guy can generate in two days. He's reducing several people's productivity, not just his own.
You're absolutely right; he rarely takes a vacation. He's very introverted and seems to care little for his family, personal life, and own personal being. He's devoted to his job but I don't believe that he recognizes the harm that he does to the project with his working style.
The problem with this is that I like my job, work reasonalbe hours, and make a decent salary. I've gotten good raises both years that I've worked there, and the company is doing quite well. The work is interesting and I like the job, so I don't feel that it's worth resigning just because I don't get along with one coworker.
Isn't it possible that the quality of work after some point is so bad that it actually takes as much or more time to fix it as it did to do it in the first place?
This is absolutely true. The lead programmer on my current project works at least 60 hours every week (and has for years) and more than that about half of the time. He's in at 6:30am and usually leaves around 6:30 or 7:00pm and he NEVER takes lunch breaks. Towards the end of the week, any problem that he "solves" quickly usually requires at least a day or more to re-fix later on. Unfortunately, his seniority makes him almost untouchable when reporting problems like this to senior management who see him as "dedicated and just as productive as everyone else". What they don't seem to notice is that he needs to work about 25-30% more hours per week than the rest of the staff just to produce adequate (not great) code.
Does anyone have any recommendations on how to present something like this to management in a convincing manner?
This wonderful mod is also covered at Classic Gaming. They have links to several consoles that have been turned into portables, including the famouse Playstation and SNES conversions.
Ok, just found a link to a site selling LED x-mas lights here. They seem to have a large seletion, but they're all still too expensive to replace the 1000+ light decorations that some poeple put up.
I was in Target last night and found a string of LED lights in the shape of small Candy Canes. The string of (I think) 50 lights was US$9.99. Not outrageously expensive, but certainly not cheap enough to line your entrie house with them yet. I went to the Target website and can't find a link to the product. Does anyone else have a link to this or a similar product that's on sale now?

Even if they never offer a free trial, I for would love to be able to download a demo that would allow me to design my character. I understand that the character design options in CoH are supposed to be huge, but I'd really like to play around with it a bit before I drop $40 on the game.
In my area (central NC), Time Warner rents out the Scientific Atlanta 8300HD DVR which is pretty crappy compared to a MythTV box, Tivo, and ReplayTV. The SA8300HD box is buggy and routinely misses programs that I've scheduled for recording for no apparent reason other than it just isn't in the mood at the time.
Also, when you're renting a box from your cable provider, they expect it to be returned in the same condition when you cancel your service. Hardly a hacker-friendly policy.
If you want some basic (but flaky) recording capabilities without the hassle of a VCR, get the Time Warner-offered box. If you want reliability, flexibility, and the ability to hack it, I think you're SOL for now.
My first thought when I read this was that Google could easily challenge Lexis-Nexis and Westlaw for their hold on the law school community in the US. While my wife was in law school I routinely helped her research cases using both of these services, and quite frankly their interface sucks. It took forever to find just about anything, and they had to continually pelt the students with free gifts just to keep them coming back. Google could potentially do very well in this area and I think there is certainly room for another competitor; especially one with Google's name recognition.
Excellent. My plot to conquer the world by learning all chain store geographic boundaries is going well. Now if only I can pinpoint the exact location where Mr. Pibb becomes available as only a fountain drink...
Hopefully I can mod my duct-tape wallet to support that. Or maybe ThinkGeek will start offering RFID-blocking wallet/bag/clothing? Hint hint if you're reading this ThinkGeek admins!
Amen! The best advice that I can add to this is to just buy the generic brands. Usually, the chains sell their generic brand at the same price (or lower!) than the weekly specials without requiring the evil card. About the only products this can't be applied to is the fresh produce and seafood; for those you should be able to find a non-chain store that can help out.
Based on the chains you listed, I'd guess that you live somewhere in or around North Carolina (I haven't seen those three chains intersect anywhere else yet, but correct me if I'm wrong). If so, I've still been able to find a few independent stores in NC, VA, and SC. It takes a little research but they're there. The selections not as huge, but they can usually cover your basics.
Sorry, I guess I wasn't clear when I said "look and feel". When I said look, I really meant the visuals, which Pixar is excellent at. And when I said feel I meant that I doubt that Disney can make TS3 seem like a true Pixar release. Pixar always fills their movies with emotion, subtle references to other movies/genres, and a humour that I haven't seen in a Disney film in...well...ever. I think Disney has bitten off more than they can chew if they think that they'll be able to make TS3 as popular and profitable as TS and TS2.

More amusingly, that's an apostrophe, not a "commar"...

You seem to be slightly confused. I'd tell you to RTFA, but it's nearly impossible to get to right now, so instead I'll just point you here.

I don't subscripe to CoH, so can someone with some in game experience let us know if the game supports vehicles and lairs?
This idea would be excellent. Every good super-hero needs an awesome ride and a comfy place to hang his cape.

I DID submit this to Slashdot two days ago and it DID get rejected.
Just curious, how much HD content have you found on BitTorrent?

Your grocery discount card is only safe in the right hands! Just imagine what they'd do if they found your National ID card.
