Trolls post anonymously, and make ad hominem attacks. I didn't do neither. I made a remark because it's the zillionth time I hear the comparison. Sorry if I stepped on your toe, but may I suggest you grow a true appreciation of free speech instead of trying to slander people you don't agree with.
Now, regarding the content of your message..... Oh wait, there isn't any.
Am I the only one who finds that Americans are more and more comparing themselves to the old Rome? Quite pompous, IMO. Together with the fact that they are spending more on weapons than the rest of the world combined, this starts to worry me.
I feel worse for those pigs to which they strap bullet proof vests, and shoot with various sorts of gun. Why? They chose to join the police out of their own free will.
Now, with only 4 images, you have 1+1+4+4+6+6 = 22 different possible outcomes, while having the problem remain trivially easy for a human. Each image either shows or doesn't show a cat, so that are two possibilities. With 4 images that makes 2^4 = 16 possibilities. I don't know where you got "1+1+4+4+6+6" from, but it doesn't make any sense to me.
That well-known trademark, is it decided in court? Or is it something you have to pay extra for? I mean, if "Linux Supercomputers" is a trademark, can I trademark "Windows Supercomputers"? (Ok, that's a funny name, but it's just an example).
My father's boss recently bought a new laptop because his old one was constantly crashing, even after reinstalling windows. I asked if I could have a look at this laptop, opened it up and dusted it out. It hasn't crashed since.
I gave it back with ubuntu installed on it, and they're still using it. (my good deed this year).
Hmm.. I thought that each proton would be accelerated to 7 TeV, so when they collide there is a 14 TeV collision. In any case, "energy consumption" is the wrong term.
Well spoken. It's an industry. The one thing I remember when my grandfather died (it was an insanely emotional period - my other grandfather had just died a week earlier, both unexpected), the undertakers were there in no time and asked my grandmother: "do you want him to be buried in first class or second class ground?" (literally). What is she supposed to say at such a time? Of course she chose "first class", thinking she would honour him that way. In reality, she just paid a lot of money.. for what? I was quite disgusted.
Let's just assume it's a crime for a moment. Why are the Brussels police investigating this? This happened in second life, let the second life police handle it.
Well, to be fair, if SCO could get ESR and RMS to sit quietly in a room together for any real length of time I would hate them a little less... It should be easy to organize. I'm sure SCO is willing to host it in their cellars somewhere, after improving the locks. Steve Balmer can throw in a few chairs.
It's always confusing when they say something like Pointsec for Linux 2.0. Is it (Pointsec for Linux) 2.0 or Pointsec for (Linux 2.0)? It always takes me a few seconds before my mind settles on the first;).
I did tech support for a few months, and one day a guy called who said his internet wasn't working. I checked his modem, indeed, no ip address. After a while I figured out his computer wasn't running. When I asked him to turn on the computer, he asked "Only the screen, or the box too?".
That's why I added "That's very simplified, of course, but it's a start". Anycast is an exception, I know. Unfortunately to explain that you first need to bootstrap them with a basic understanding or they'll go catatonic.
Or better: lots of networks hooked together. That's why it's called internet.
To me, the most important things to know are:
1) on the internet every computer has a unique ip adres.
2) data is sent to other computers by means of routing. For an ordinary computer, that means looking at the destination addres to determine if it is on the local network. If so, it sends it directly to that computer, if not it sends it to the router. Routers connect different networks, and when a message arrives, it retransmits it on another network that is closer to the destination.
That's very simplified, of course, but it's a start.

if you put "cat /dev/mem | uuencode | mail judge@court.gov" in a cronjob and let it run every minute, I'm sure he will be more than pleased.
(Or maybe I misinterpreted).
I do that on the one windows box I have left: before I reboot, I unplug the network cable. It saves me an anti-virus license :-).
Well, just yesterday I read two articles on spacedaily:
1) Griffin Not Sure Global Warming A Problem
2) NASA Research Suggest Earth Climate Approaching Dangerous Point
Somehow I have problems reconciling these two standpoints.
Are you talking about weed?

Ok, if anyone is interested, I have tons of used 1's and 0's in my basement. They're pre-sorted. I'm willing to sell them for 2 cents/kilobit.
The bits will be sent to you as a self-extracting executable.

It sounded cool, but all the links give me a 404 error and a bunch of ads. I'll check again later.
Now if only they could make this in the form of website... or maybe a suppository. Hmm...
OJFS sucks. I constantly encounter error messages like "I don't say I saved your file, but if I stored it, it would be called 'readme.txt'".

August 8th to 12th, there's the Chaos Communication Camp 2007, camping + geeks + lectures + beer. What more could you want?

I see white trash is still breeding well, too.
