Even if they did it tomorrow it wouldn't be earth shattering; especially to businesses. This is because Microsoft has a long vested interest in continuing to support beige boxes--if apple switched tomorrow no business would wanna jump in for fear that they might switch back to not supporting beige boxes the day after tomorrow. Nothing would happen in the business world until Apple proved that they would stick with this strategy by becoming financially dependent upon it.

If it was sitewide it would be a huge mess, as anyone who has dealt with merging changes in a version control system knows. Two people see an outdated page, because they newest version isn't flagged safe yet. They both make changes. You now have a diverging tree. This can happen today with Wikipedia but it is rare enough not to discourage people from contributing. If this policy was sitewide (it isn't) this would, as I said, be a huge mess.

The fact that you boldly assumed there was even a suit shows how little you know about this. Most firings are not the result of suits. They are the results of claims, even if it never would go to court. "He asked me to lunch one time and I felt uncomfortable." That wouldn't qualify as sexual harrassment in court but that can, and has, gotten people fired.
