I second this. I bought a Canon (S330) printer over a year ago and it has continued to serve me well, the Black ink cartridges are CHEAP ($10CDN!!!). They don't last terribly long, but I figure 2 cartridges are about equivalent to 1 HP for my old printer. And a lot cheaper.

The only problem I have with it is I don't print very much most of the time. (And when I do it's typically a few hundred pages at once). So a couple of black ink cartridges have dried up on me.

That said, the cartridge dried up, but the print-head seems fine. The printer was cheap, prints fast and quiet.

A few years later at college the locker next to mine had the same lock on it, I laughed when I saw it and mentioned to a friend of mine that you could just shake it to unlock it. He didn't believe me, so I reached over and shook it for a couple seconds and it popped open.

Sure, no problem, but the 2 USB ports only meeting the 1.1 spec won't do USB High-speed.

So type distinction is relevant. Although I wonder about the reason behind offering so many ports anyway. Seems to me I have just enough devices to require at least 1 HUB meeting USB 2.0 spec, in which case it doesn't matter if there are 2, or more on the machine itself.

Hmm, would be nice if you could connect multiple USB ports to a single HUB and have it act like a switch using whichever USB port was available...

I've been using Mac OS X 10.3 since November. (Before that I did not have a Mac, but I have owned and built several PCs). Apple has done a very good job of implementing 3D Graphics card enhancements into their GUI. Very little of the effects are really what I would call eye-candy. They actually serve a purpose. Even when minimizing to the Dock (task bar) the gui effect lets you know where on the Dock the application went. It is so fast and smooth that it does NOT impact the CPU in the least.

A friend of mine, who loves to bug me about my buying a Mac, spent about 5 minutes sitting at my desk and drooled over the 'eye-candy'. He saw how useful features like Expose was, and how smooth it was and was in awe. I've seen a couple of programs implement Expose like functionality on Windows and the fact is they do not work well at all. Until Microsoft implements an interface like Apple has they will be limited in the effects they can do. Effects that do serve a purpose to subtly inform the user of events.
