    Myth was the official point where video games degenerated from being fun to movies on computer. Movies you have to work to see. I'm glad after about half a decade we're finally moving away from that junk.

    And currently the one man is overworked and banned off ebay because of Mythic.

    Mythic says it bans ebay use, but at the same time leaves other people's auctions go through... Doesn't make sense. At least resolve the double standard, or people will think Mythic secretly sells stuff online using ebay itself.

    Some auctions go through, others are banned.

    To the average observer, you never see the banned auctions, so it seems like there is a market.

    You may spend your hundreds of hours playing the game with the sole intent of making money to pay for college(like my one friend), only to find out Mythic bans your auctions on ebay.

    The auctions that go through? Well I have heard some bad things that Mythic is actually selling the stuff themselves and banning other people.

    Think: Create an online object server side and get 1,000$.... Do this about 50 times a month... and thats a salary that took less than a half hour to aquire.

    Definately stuff worth suing over. At least to let the public know if Mythic is doing this shady buisness practice.

    They caused a law to be passed that says you can't drive a horsedrawn carriage and be drunk.... From some bad horsebuggy accidents...

    Anyway IMHO, AI is friggin straightforward to code up. Give a computer an imaginary 3d world, then have objects in it have distinct properties and obey the laws of physics... give the computer vision recognition to see these items real life... Then the computer can model the real world and make decisions based on it....

    Addition of new info would be as easy as Zork.

    I don't know what "x" means.

    X means bleh, where bleh is stuff the machine already knows.

    Its not too easy, but its straight forward, and everything added is reinforcing of the other pieces.

    Why you just don't skip through the internet instead is beyond me... but yeah hers's a good use, I came up with in my HCI class for palm pilots.

    Every person keeps their schedule on a palm pilot... Why not add the ability to synch up a meeting via IR? Instead of people arguing what time is good, the palm should auto synch people... Which would save precious time at conferances.

    Without a team, you're setting youself up to be too slow for the corporations...

    I wanted to make MMORPGS back in 89-92 when I was like 13... Wasted my early teen years in that shit. I'm a god programmer now, but I hate life.
    I hate that corporations can steal market shares so easy. If I had a team, it would have been sweet.

    Whats funny is that I'm back at it again... I seriously contemplate suicide on a daily basis, and sometimes throw myself into situations that may kill myself... Try russian roullette but use your car and speeding to see if you attract a police officer.

    MMORPGS have already been done though... Why not try true artificial intelligence?

    Why would a company that makes billions each year off selling AIDS drugs want to cure it?

    When money wins wars, governments can't even turn the cheek to help the public good.

    Then we have Microsoft, who works along the same lines as selling drugs for the benefit of the United States.

    Patent DNA? Sure, fine whatever, laws are already fubar.

    And did you see how badly the Steelers owned the Ravens? I mean, the Ravens got stomped with plays that looked rediculous. It seemed like both the Raven and the Patroit games seemed fixed in some ways.

    Patroits will win the Super Bowl, mainly because their name is "Patroits" and the government has used football in the past for social engineering.

    I may start travelling more. I'll go to airports with a load of bills, play on the internet while I wait for a plane that needs a passenger and does that cheap passanger at the last minute thing.

    Then I'll visit around the country just for the heck of it... Coming back to the airport daily to catch up on emails and buisness so I can have money to keep traveling.

    If there weren't corporate giants funding massive man operations, little guys would compete against themselves. Eventually the little guys who were smarter and more successful would win out against the competition. We'd then have the best of the best game designers at the top. Since there are big corporate entities out there, they can slap together something 50% of what is desired, rush to market and then make it harder for the little guy.

    Standard slashdot readers can understand that the products Microsoft releases are far from the best, but no one can compete so Microsoft dictates what comes next. Same holds true for MMORPG's.

    When I say MMORPGS sell because there's nothing else out there, I mean to say that since they're so expensive to make only a few shots are made at them.

    People don't understand what is fun, so the natural process of dumb execs making games and evolution saying what is right doesn't apply.

    Less games in market = less to choose from.

    Thusly MMORPG's don't get the evolution of quality they should in the current buisness model.

    They cost so much money to put together that they're designed only by a corporation.

    Corporations are notorious for not understanding what is fun. People at E3 will honestly say they don't know what will be fun, and only make a crap shoot when making games.

    Thats because they're made by corporations, duh. Ask the hardcore players what is fun, and then you can start charging for your game.

    The only reason MMORPG's of today are successful is because there is nothing else out there...

    Can't really jump in the market with a crappy game, and elevate your status over time with revenue like you could in the old days. Today its mainy super compu global corp feeding your material.

    Basically its a ton of cameras.

    Use visual recognition to detect stuff like troop movements....
    Or just use cameras+ human watching + set coordinates already.

    Picture vietnam movies, with the guy radioing for a mortar strike.

    Now picture no one in harm's way, but the cameras and coordinates for mortar strikes are at Mr. God's hands.

    Later: Camera + visual recognition = Missle Guidence system

    Later: Camera + High powered AA guns + some elementary physics = anti aircraft guns

    But here's the kicker... If you network ALL the cameras, so you know information everywhere, then you can calculate things better...

    Its like automagic driven cars, the more networked, the more you see around JOE BOB in his big ol truck... Because of networking alerts you to whats around it... The more you know.

    I developed GNUTELLA in tandem. But I designed it mainly to have a theortical online RPG imagine "DIABLO 3" which wouldn't lag to hell like DIABLO 2(central server), but at the same time not incur the data hacking of DIABLO 1(client side).

    How's it work? Basically everyone stores OTHER people's characters on their computers. Its client side, but not on your side of the client :)
    If you log on, and everyone contests your new found power, then likely you didn't get it by honest means.

    There are conspiracy theory and stuff that would give this problems... But people marked as potential problems would be more closely monitored... And if you continued to be abusive, you get kicked out of the play group.

    I went on to note that if there was some way to get some IP seed with IP lists, then everyone could connect outside of a central server.

    When I heard of Napster, I automatically jumped and thought my idea could be adapted to file sharing, but lo and behold it was known for at least a year.

    Lots of main idea things come off in tadem.

    But there is definately a TON of GNUTELLA spin off uses... And most of them involve lowering the overhead to compete with corporate giants.

    Understand that every corporation and every person wants your money and is trying to screw you out of it in the most evil of ways(lowest denominator rules corporation vs corporation). So any opprotunity you have to make a buck, do it. Don't be fair, ANY chance you get to take as large amount of money from any corporate of government entity, do it. Honest work went out the door with the turn of 1900. Now people get paid at the lowest anyone will work for, and no one can start up a buisness unless its corporately funded. Whats this mean for nobodys? Steal steal steal and sell back! After all capitalism is designed for individuals, so start playing by the rules.

    If you know classes and the virtual command, then simply make the windows as classes, and the small pieces in them as subclasses.

    I made an awesome AWT in about 2 months for my MMORPG using C++. Too bad the market got swamped.
