Dune 2 was fun. Everyone wrote in for multiplayer and regnerating spice. C&C was fun. Red alert was blah. C&C2 was a bug filled imbalance fest that it seemed like nobody tried on.
You'd think the games would get better over time. But they have Hasbro syndrome, where they try and sell off the name. I bet C&C 3d is going to suck royal balls.
I taught myself how to code just to make a MMORPG back in 1990 >:) Then I managed to get top in the world as an HCI guy, trained with MTG world champs, made world semis in Broodwar, designed gnutella, designed diablo 1 unhackable using client side storage(uses a p2p psuedo server), designed true artificial intelligence. All I do is code, play video games, and design video games:) In fact I sell third party applications that automate some MMORPGS. I'd go on, but it would just be exhausting. Also I just graduated with a degree in Scientific Computing from Carnegie Mellon University. No matter how much effort you put into life, its just a big fucking crap shoot. Now excuse me while I go rob a bank to pay back my $100,000 in student loans.

Whats funny is that I designed Gnutella without knowing about it. I was designing an unhackable version of Diablo 1. Where characters are stored client side... The key was there was a psuedo server made up of the thousands of other people playing who also kept your data... It was a P2p network as base then everyone stored extra data... If you looked like you were cheating by a large % of computer police, then you're no longer in the network... This may sound shady and up for corruption, but online communities do flag people as shady to begin with... Its not really succeptable for conspiracy either because if you want to take your ball and go home, you can do it with your friends too.
Ask any staunch patriotic working class American what they think hollywood suits should be paid. "I work in a fish gutting factory for minumum wage, what do they do? Make fancy pictures. I'd give me remaining 3 fingers to do what they do for half of what I make."
Heh, the truth be told is that the answer on how much someone should be compensated is simple. Aim to give them money equal to middle class people so they can make a living doing art.
Granting a dynasty to hollywood, sports players, or musicians... Not only is easily viewed as unfair, but detracts from the actual art they are to produce.
Some easy to see detractors: Instead of aiming more art at specific groups, art becomes less targetted at a general audience.
As for sports, the teams that can pay the big $$ can get the best players.

#1: Get rid of the registry file. Instead have personal registries for each file.
#2: Have a logger folder, that keeps track of when files get moved and changed, and backs up files in cache format when replaced. This way if you get a virus(or spyware), you can just delete a level of folders and be back to your last OS state. Also if you overwrite a critical file you could always get it.
#3: Do the same thing with DLL files as registry. Make DLL files chained valid with the program that created them. So one program can't invalidate another program by modifying the DLL
Then I'd probably like some more customization, like a copy/paste ring. But I wouldn't code this shit, I mean seriously, the time for work on this junk is over and the monopoly is in place. Once the big guy takes over you just have to trust that they'll altruistically build their code.:P

What if governments made a percentaged budget based on country's income. Then this budget is voted on and spent on public works for the world?
Then eventually if this went on long enough, public goods could be vaulued.
There's times when someone creates something so big, it influences a whole culture and for other people not to be able to ride the wave is wrong.
Since corporate waves are so big they crush the little guy's ability to enter a market, little guy's should be able to sell addons and such to an already established product given it isn't the same product repackaged, and "Unofficial" is in the title.
