    The Win32 BSOD does give you better information so you can try to diagnose the problem. Which is kinda lacking in the OSX Panic screen.

    OS X is kind enough to write it down for you, saving you the trouble of copying the information off the screen.

    According to convoluted logic we often see here, what he did was perfectly proper. After all, he didn't "steal" software, he merely "infringed copyright"

    You might want to swap out that 40 watt bulb in your head for at least a 60, if not 75.

    How in the world do you get "perfectly proper" from copyright infringement? Just because it isn't stealing doesn't necessarily mean it's OK.

    same goes for third party web apps, but are you telling everyone who uses slashcode to drop it and roll their own?

    Since the third-party javascript loads each time you're dependent on it not ever changing, even if they're not malicious changes. And if they are, well, you're screwed.

    Yes, if you're going to be doing illegal things it's a better strategy to try to obfuscate the evidence. That's been true for pretty much all of civilization. On the other hand, if you're accused of something based on that type of evidence, it's a reasonable defense that the evidence could have been caused by means other than that of which you're accused.

    That's just the way it goes. It's not right to deny a reasonable defense simply because it could also be used by criminals.

    Way back when I bought a computer that came with window 3.11, I received a coupon for a free upgrade to win95 when it came out. They could end up doing the same thing.

    Based on the way it's gone so far, they may want to use a generous expiration date.

    What? It's the other way around. It's relatively hard to find application software that you can't install without admin privileges. I can't even think of an example.

    Ignoring the "POS" part, and even ignoring that all decent video gear supports firewire, if you ever have another Mac you will be might glad you have it. Using firewire, you can mount a Mac as an external drive. Once you've used this wonderful feature you'll never want to be without it.
