I was. I was amused that someone would think that it was still clever enough to put in their sig, so I thought I'd egg him on a bit. And since it seemed to kinda work, I'm seeing if I can go another round.
If you would read the rest of what he wrote, he goes on to state what the "convoluted logic" is. And it turns out that what's convoluted is his interpretation. Similar, in fact, to your interpretation of my post. Say, you're not the same guy, are you?
According to convoluted logic we often see here, what he did was perfectly proper. After all, he didn't "steal" software, he merely "infringed copyright"
You might want to swap out that 40 watt bulb in your head for at least a 60, if not 75.
How in the world do you get "perfectly proper" from copyright infringement? Just because it isn't stealing doesn't necessarily mean it's OK.
same goes for third party web apps, but are you telling everyone who uses slashcode to drop it and roll their own?
Since the third-party javascript loads each time you're dependent on it not ever changing, even if they're not malicious changes. And if they are, well, you're screwed.
Yes, if you're going to be doing illegal things it's a better strategy to try to obfuscate the evidence. That's been true for pretty much all of civilization. On the other hand, if you're accused of something based on that type of evidence, it's a reasonable defense that the evidence could have been caused by means other than that of which you're accused.
That's just the way it goes. It's not right to deny a reasonable defense simply because it could also be used by criminals.
Way back when I bought a computer that came with window 3.11, I received a coupon for a free upgrade to win95 when it came out. They could end up doing the same thing.
Based on the way it's gone so far, they may want to use a generous expiration date.
I further defy you to find a single piece of software for MacOS X that doesn't require Admin privs to install.
What? It's the other way around. It's relatively hard to find application software that you can't install without admin privileges. I can't even think of an example.
and I am pissed I have to pay for a POS connection I will NEVER use!
Ignoring the "POS" part, and even ignoring that all decent video gear supports firewire, if you ever have another Mac you will be might glad you have it. Using firewire, you can mount a Mac as an external drive. Once you've used this wonderful feature you'll never want to be without it.
You're not the only one. Speaking of cleanser commercials, check out what's still rattling around inside my head:
(singing) Mis...ter... Clean gets rid of grease and grime and dirt in just a minute.
Mr. Clean will clean your whole house, and everything that's in it. Mr. Clean Mr. Clean...
Oh be still my beating heart.
Almost everything I bought 20 years ago I no longer have.
Just sayin'.
Not only boxes, but boxes that honked. Talk about living the life of Riley!
Not only that, but apparently the defendant gets to be part of his own firing squad. That is progress!

The whole thing is a silly waste of time, I know.
Yes, almost exactly. Except for in every way. Do you know what a pyramid scheme is?
No, he said he would be if he knew all the commands.
Whatever that means.
OS X is kind enough to write it down for you, saving you the trouble of copying the information off the screen.

Wouldn't it be more convenient to park it closer to home?
How long has your planet had internet?

Oh, ok, that makes sense. I read the challenge as it is today. If he modified it without noting that he modified it that's a little sneaky.
By the way, your web site looks exactly like mine!
He gets an hour. He can try as many times as he likes within that hour.
Did you mean to reply to some other post? I agree with what you've written, but I don't see how it applies to what I wrote.

No friggin' way is this true.
Based on the way it's gone so far, they may want to use a generous expiration date.
That's last as in "the most recent one previous to this one," not last as in "final."
He said "I defy you to find a single piece of software," which is a ridiculous statement. He's either trolling or willfully ignorant.
