Let me explain something to you: I am aware of the domain name bit you mentioned only because I turned it on at some point.
Another of your excellent "explanations." It is on by default. following your apparently standard pattern, you just guessed it was off by default, and then stated that as fact. So it's reasonable that you would be aware of it, since either you currently had it on or you deliberately turned it off.
YOU didn't take a moment's thought to ask yourself if I had turned that particular feature on
Do you see what happens when you make bad guesses and then deal with them as if they were facts? I did think about it, and properly concluded that you should be aware of it. Amazingly, you actually have the feature activated, and yet despite seeing hundreds and hundreds of examples of slashdot parsing the posts you still came to the wrong conclusion! You also ignore the other way I mentioned that you could have deduced that slashdot does parse the posts.
So by your own definition, you are a bigger twit than I am for making assumptions about what I had to work with.
I think you've now firmly placed yourself in the twit family.
The point is to produce something that catches the interest of people who are otherwise completely unaware of its message. Once those people start questioning this stuff it's all over.
Slashdot also stops you from using certain HTML tags. Surely you know that, and it's certainly not magic fairies that make that happen.
You came up with an guess at some characteristic of slashdot and then you didn't take a moment to consider it, instead you just blasted it out to the world. That's the sort of thing, you might agree, that a twit would do. Then all you're conerned about is the fact that people are rude to you. But you just posting away with your own ill considered ideas is a more subtle form of rudeness.
Well, if hadn't posted it AC I wouldn't have called you a twit. I'd have simply posted a calm and rational argument against what you wrote, and we certainly can't have that going on at Slashdot. BTW, I didn't write the other AC reply to your follow up.
Of course now in addition to whatever frustrations he was taking out on her will be the humiliation of being scared off by a nerd with a sword, so he will beat her more somewhere else.
If you've ever read the script of a movie you've seen you'll find that the dialog often doesn't match up very well. On the other hand, I'll bet I could do in a day or two the Spanish subtitles for a finished film. Considering the often poor quality of the subtitles I've seen it seems they crank them out in an afternoon.
Well of course they'd like to make all the money they can. But if these ads allow them to keep prices down in order to compete for market share then I benefit. It certainly happens in theaters. They make very little off the the ticket sales. For highly anticipated movies 90% of the ticket sale gross goes to the distributor. So if people weren't willing to pay high prices at the concession stand then I would have to pay more to get in.
I haven't read the article, but this doesn't surprise me one bit. I'm sure this is a desperate attempt by the USCF to develop a human player capable of competing with the next generation of chess programs.
I just don't get it. Nobody complains that machines can lift more weight than the strongest men, and cars can go faster than the fastest runner, so why be bothered that a machine can play chess? Accept it and learn from it, I say.

the root is penult, meaning next to the last item in a series, or next to the last syllable in a word.
It has nothing to do with the word ultimate.
Yes it does. That's where the ult comes from:
paene = almost
ultimus = last

It means next to last. If you really want to impress your friends you can whip out antepenultimate, which means the the one before that.
Hmmm. It makes me more inclined to get one. If it's something I can easily ignore, then I look at it as my being subsidized by the people who do look at. It's like the movies. The people who are willing to pay $3.95 for popcorn are subsidizing my ticket cost. I heartily encourage others to spend twenty bucks or so at the concession stand.
I work at a place that is kind of touchy about content... Besides, I thought rude words just involved being insensitive, not foul.
sheesh. Don't be such a fucking chicken.

So what do you call a female musician in Spanish? "El musico mujer"
Technically, la musico is correct. Same for any previously male-dominated profession, such as la presidente. The noun stays the same, but with la instead of el.
However, this is a bit "snooty" among the common folk, and so in casual speech la musica tends to be used.
Good idea. Let's.

average Jane's a criminal on the make
On rights we have today
I'm guessing about the "on the make," but it makes sense and rhymes with stake. The others I'm pretty sure of.

Whore of bloody hell
How do you get that? OK, Putain is whore, but a bordel is a brothel and merde is shit.

"What is blip?"
"Must be Moose and Squirrel. And flames."
It was also here in Costa Rica. ($3.10 admission and 85 cents for popcorn.)

You mean there's more than one George W.??
It's worse then that. I once shouted it in a theater that was only half full. They got me anyway. Fascists.
Well you made me laugh.

Where does the fruit of cucurbitaceous vines go in the summertime? John Cougar Melloncamp.
How many CDs do you have where your favorite song was one you didn't like the first half-dozen times? I have several.

Actually, the last thing most people need is a casket.
Am I mistaken, or are you citing a work of fiction to support your conclusion?
