  1. Re:It's getting hotter still! on Extent of Antarctic Sea Ice Reaches Record Levels · · Score: 1

Agreed. The "spreading out" of thin ice might just be due to a lot of ice falling off the Antarctic and more precipitation -- if it were cooler, you'd have less.

That is just as speculative as those who argue differently. The article specifically mentions the role of wind patterns as the primary factor in ice generation, and there is no statement that overall ice has thinned at the same time this expansion has occurred. AFAIKT, there is no established basis that ties this ice growth occurrence to either side of the warming debate. It doesn't need to be defended, it is happening, and it is not completely understood.

If you have a solution, propose it.

Your Sherlock Holmes example would not apply. Code copyright would be quite simple as it would protect from copying actual code. Coding for a similar purpose would be OK as long as you don't copy. Anyone can write mystery novels that follow basically the same general plotline, we see it all the time, just don't use the same characters, use your own characters. Use your own code or license what you want to copy.

I would think it would be a lot easier to track the motion of cars going in generally the same direction and limit the decision based on a few than it would be to track several cars traveling in a circle in front of you, with cars entering from multiple directions. It may seem simple from a rule perspective, but from an actual real world processing standpoint, it is a quite complex task. It seems that the google staff has run into this challenge, and indicator that it may be more complex than you are assuming.

Part of driving is dealing with a certain percentage of drivers who either don't know or simply fail to follow the 'rules'. But, I can see why roundabouts, particularly multi-lane ones, would be difficult to program the algorithms for. Part of effective roundabout driving is a bit more anticipatory than many other driving tasks.

That there are so many factors that contribute, and that there is not a solidly deterministic measure of 'intelligence", and that there are environmental factors that impact the outcomes, its simply a hard thing to correlate.

Discussion after that was based on your particular questions to me and not the article at hand. You don't seem to have a point. You are confused, likely by your obesssion to make wind the topic, but lacking any real way to do it. So instead you proceed to ask leading questions in hopes I slip up so you can do some sort of happy dance.

So, once again, if you have a point please make it. If not, you probably should run off and find some anti-nuke submissions, which appears to be your other obsession.
