Since I actually live here, I guess I know a little more about our native fauna than you probably do (which appears to be solely based on 'Survivor 2'). They are called 'koalas', in the same way lions are not called 'lion cats' - or do you call them 'lion dogs'? Frankly, I would probably shit on you too, if you picked me up.
Racoon is not a marsupial - as members of the Procyonidae family, their closest relatives are the ringtails, coatis and coatimundis. (racoon.com) The opossum is the only marsupial native to North America
Saw an article not too long ago about the increase in gang violence in France related to 'stacked' gaming machines. In France, like probably everywhere else, legal gaming machines must pay out at least 85% in winnings. Organised crime have machines which payout around 50%, which they supply to hotels and clubs to keep in the back room, and everyone takes their cut. This is now so lucrative that quite a few gang bosses have been murdered in turf wars over these machines. The police investigating the murder of one high level gang boss have not solved it in over a year, because all their main supects keep getting bumped off by rival gangs.
"You are a captain in charge of one sergeant and four enlisted men. Your task is to raise a 40 metre flagpole, sliding it into a hole 5 metres deep. You have 2 ropes - one 7 metres long and one 9 metres long - and 2 shovels and 2 buckets. How do you accomplish this?'
"Don't want to pay for MS Office? Here's Star instead."
to which MS will say "The license for Windows will now cost you *MORE* than what you were paying for Windows and Office combined" - or words to that effect.
Padding in football? Oh, you mean that "sport" americans call football. Real football players (Aussie rules, Rugby League | Union) dont wear padding or helmets.
Developing countries have a very high take up of mobile communications tech, since they bypass the need to have (expensive) landlines laid to every place you want to have a phone. Landlines also have a nasty habit of being pulled down every time a decent storm passes through, or being dug up by a local farmer, requiring more maintenance in often remote areas. For mobile phones, you just need to put up a cell tower every so often, which aren't as susceptable to falling trees and the like.
Given that Microsoft has been affirmed to hold a monopoly for O/S on x86, a possible remedy to the 'tying problem' would be to prevent them integrating into the O/S any functionality for which there exists similar products from other parties. They can still develop, market and even supply the software with the OS, but it must be possible to completely remove or replace the software without affecting the operation of the rest of the system. For example, they would not be able to 'integrate' WMP into the OS, given the existance of Realplayer et al. Any truly innovative product they develop they can do what they like with, but if there is already a standalone product out there, it must remain a separate application.
From the article
"By focusing extremely precise measuring techniques at 47 Ursae Majoris, which is about 45 light years (more than 200 trillion miles) away,"
I thought there was something different about the universe when I got up trhis morning.

I know what you are getting at, but just a niggle. Speed is only one component of velocity - velocity is speed and direction.
Hell, if its good enough for 'ER', it's good enough for X-Files.
Someone needs to add "Install Linux" to those posters
You say "Sergeant, get that flagpole up!"
Answer tomorrow
Haven't you ever heard the term 'sexual congress'??
When did we all stop being customers and turn into 'consumers'?
To me, the term 'consumers' conjures a picture of some farm animal being fed and fattened, just before being slaughtered
Demand *Customers* rights now!!!
I remember something similar about a tail gunner in a Lancaster bomber during dubya-dubya two.

I had a customer who would backup to 8" floppies
Microsoft once again revised profit expectations downwards after announcing a one of charge for the aquisition of the State of New Mexico.
Ananlysts predicted a wave of similar purchases by Microsoft, with up to 18 other states potential targets for buyout.
...or see 'When Worlds Collide' - start off going downhill first to get bit of momentum going..

So where were they introduced *from*? Where exactly is the native range of the coyote and jack rabbit?
"I didn't know how to speeel engineer, and now I are one."
You don't know how to spell 'linear' either.
And it's 'oscillating'.
