  2. I assume my state is not alone in banning the recording of voice without a warrant. Even security systems in stores are not allowed to record audio. So if this is being done by a bunch of agencies will that make it legal for the public to record each other? The day voice recording is allowed in businesses the public will learn just how widespread corruption is in business. Everything from sexual harassment to business owners trying to hire a killer to wipe out an enemy will be shockingly commonplace. If we eliminate crime in business there may be nothing left. Often business leaders are not even aware that they are committing serious crimes as what they do has been considered standard practic for centuries such as wage fixing and price fixing arrangements.

My condo signs contracts that cause every unit to be billed $35. per month regardless of the fact that many owners only spend a few weeks a year in their units. Snowbirds keep condos here for the worst weeks of winter up north as an escape from the cold. That $35 dollars a month gets a cheaper bill for all residents and we can not stop anyone from also getting a dish to access other programming. But most people simply do not want to pay for a dish service and a cable service so the effect is that Comcast gets 100 percent of our business and all other companies account for next to nothing. The posture was taken in order to discourage owners from installing dishes on the property. And it works. Very, very few owners have dishes.

Obviously it will take a few years for these delivery bots to totally replace human delivery workers. But in effect, the handwriting has been written on the wall. Taxi, truck and other drives should already be on that calendar and construction workers as well are about to be phased out. Front of store fast food workers are out and oddly the kitchen help may be gone before the front of store folks vanish.

I find nothing wrong with GMO crops bur I find a whole lot wrong with the notion of population growth being allowed and a lack of restoration of quality to all areas to go in the direction of a vibrant natural environment. At this very moment i live on a huge salt water estuary that is is severe crises due to algae blooms that are toxic destroying not only wildlife but bans all contact with humans on our beaches and waterways. It is caused by agricultural run off and global warming as well as allowing homes to have been built too near the Indian River and its lagoons. Growth is a devastating negative and we here only bullshit about real solutions. In Florida one answer would be to only allow indoor farming such that no run off could ever occur from agriculture. In other words, plainly said, we need very radical changes. We also need to disallow any new housing or residences in many of our counties as well as restricting tourism. These types of solutions can not be accomplished with our current forms of government.

Many counties in Florida have no mental health facilities that are capable of treating anyone for anything. We can not even house the homeless or come close to housing the homeless. Pregnant women or women with small children are about the only people who can get housing. Drug treatment facilities are few and far between or are only designed to give a few days of therapy and then out the door for the patients. I am currently sheltering a girl with a broken jaw that the hospital refuses to fix claiming that a broken jaw is not an emergency. She was a victim of a violent attack so severe she was near death, She can not apply for a job effectively as her face is swollen due to inflammation from the broken jaw. So these ideas about prison reform are wonderful but Florida has a right wing lunatic as governor and the idea that they are going to do something to help inmates is off the wall crazy. Currently the Fort Pierce jail does not use air conditioning. They put ten men in a cell and the heat index is over 100 degrees.. That is justified as "punishment". Yet the bulk of those inmates are there awaiting trial and often are found not guilty. But the catch is they can not make bail so they either plead guilty with a plea bargain or wait for a trial for a year or more. That is a way of forcing people who are innocent to plead guilty. Florida beurocracy may be more criminal than the inmates in our jails.

  8. It's All about intent on ACLU Lawsuit Challenges Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (thestack.com) · · Score: 1

To be guilty of a crime one must intend to commit the crime but also there must be evil implied. A person who hacks into computers or networks with a real intention of doing good has no criminal liability if police and courts support the concept in law of intent. Here is a common type of issue that makes law enforcement next to impossible. There are many sites, such as Craig's List that have sections in which supposed prostitutes solicit business. Yet simply asking for money for sex is usually not what it appears to be. A person may post only to collect names, pics and cell phone numbers and also steer men to certain sites such as supposedly safe sites to insure the trick is not a maniac. Just because they claim to solicit as prostitutes is not at all related to their intentions as many of them have never prostituted themselves ever in their entire lives. This puts modern law enforcement in a real bind. We are at the point at which a girl can offer a man sex fro $200. and actually has no intention of breaking any laws at all. That makes her equal to a female cop who also solicits tricks and then arrests the guy who says yes. Fraud schemes could also make use of such a tactic in that the absurd offer is only made to create a list of greedy gullible people and the list is then sold to other fraud groups with no intention by the first group to ever defraud anyone. Imagine what such tactics can do to keep the courts in totally overwhelmed burdens of pseudo cases.

  9. I really loath seeing the Us so behind in so many things. Why the heck do we not wake up and see that the US has better technology widely distributed throughout our population than any other nation? And to make it worse we have people chanting that the US is number one, endlessly and stupidly. If people would get into reality and realize that we are having a huge problem then we could work towards a better solution.

Also it may just be that a time bias exists as a very local condition and implies nothing for the rest of the universe. Somehow my suspicion would be that since we know that we are headed for a certain black hole that a directional bias might just be towards that black hole. But then again it is all well beyond me.

You can bet your last penny that the Navy and naval forces around the world are already onto this idea. In essence a man ship acts as a tow and tender until somewhat near the conflict point. Then a sort of automated battle barge goes under its own power a couple of hundred miles and assumes a position and holds it. The design probably allows waves to slosh over the deck and has sides meant to deflect torpedoes. An example could be to control the entrance to a harbor. It could also be well equipped with missiles and drones to attack cities. I also would not be shocked if these battle barges are not able to sit silently on the ocean floor until ordered to rise to the surface and take action. Since no human life support is required they can sit in total silence for quite a long time if need be. It keeps troops out of harm's way and can effectively kill enemies. I would think that several Navies are already far along with something along these lines.

Not to mention that society can be insane in what they believe contributes to crimes or immorality. For example some states made playing saxophones or saxophone music illegal in the 1930 era under the belief that the sultry tones of the saxophone were the tools of Satan designed to make women sexually promiscuous. Imagine the harm allowing silly laws to be on the books can create.

  16. Several Issues on Electric Bikes Won Over China. Is the US Next? (bloomberg.com) · · Score: 1

In the warmer states an e-bike could be used all year round. In colder states it will take a very hardy and young person to use an e-bike in cold weather. Just as you see very few motorcycles when it's really cold you will see very few e-bikes. In the south we see people demonstrating enclosed bikes that go quite fast without so much effort but in our hot climates an enclosed bicycle is a torture chamber worse than a sauna, most of the year. this has to seriously effect what people are willing to pay for e-bikes as those bikes will be sitting several months of a year, unused and will need a car or pickup truck for a backup. Theft of bicycles has always been a problem and is largely ignored by police departments. for that to end we will need strong punishments frequently applied for those that steal bicycles or expensive parts from bicycles. in my state a car thief will almost never go to prison unless he has several prior convictions. i wonder how many $1,400 dollar e-bikes he would have to get caught stealing to actually be put in prison at all under our current system. We just might see the same type of conflict that is brewing with private drones. If far more people want to fly drones than commercial aviation then wouldn't commercial aviation have to shut down or move to remote, drone free areas? As e-bikes become the dominant road vehicles won't cars take the second class position and be regulated in such a way that they do not offend e-bike riders? E-bikes just might have the potential to end auto production in the US. things are quickly changing.

  18. Hidden cams surely work out better than conspicuous cams. Making crime a worse and worse path for an individual is a great way to reduce crime in the long term. And we need those cams in the finest neighborhoods as well as in the ghetto areas. Those cams have two benefits. First they can lead to the arrest of the guilty . Next they can protect people from incorrect arrests. A good cam system can provide your location at a certain time and many times the accused is no where near the crime site. And then there are the lives and property saved by making crime next to impossible.

  20. Obviously the book industry needs some protections and one can easily imagine that an e-book could have tens of thousands of copies sold for peanuts. So the individual buyer feels that he has the right to sell his one copy. But what will the second buyer do? Or what will the third buyer do? As more and more copies become available the price the price will drop radically. It is a serious issue for the book industry and yet it is the property of the buyer. It could be that the traditional book industry will vanish due to technology which is happening in other industries . Somehow we will have a awful consequence if we protect one industry and not others. For example Uber will probably totally destroy the Taxi industry. Self driving cars and trucks will crush the professional driver industry. The machinist trade has already suffered a huge blow due to more modern industrial machines. Land line phones are also near death. We are now in an era in which the economy can be wonderful while more and more people live in poverty in the US. There is no path to turn back the clock. We must now change society in such a way that displaced workers do well in life or we will all perish.

  21. The morality wizards are at it again. " Our sense of humanity" is so abstract that it can not be damaged. I doubt that there is much agreement at all on what our sense of humanity is. What moral wizards actually do is get attention, power, and positions for themselves. Yes, a pig could acquire a sense of self. But that pig need not know fear or know about death at all. Put the pig to sleep covertly and harvest what is needed from the pig. That pig could have a very happy life. Meanwhile you just might save millions of human lives with the parts and processes derived from these chimeras. So what kind of balance scale does one need to weigh a human life against "our sense of humanity"? Well "our sense of humanity"has zero weight on a balance beam. Hopefully even one human being has real weight.

Microsoft has created so many violations over the last 20 years that a RICCO Act could be used to seize the entire corporation. I believe that Microsoft has paid at least two billion in fines for various violations. They probably made 20 billion by those violations. Sometimes corruption can be built into a law.
