    I would seriously doubt Eryxma. Bandwidth, evenbought in 1TB chunks, typically goes for a least 30 cents/GB or so.

    The problem with that argument is that the "FLIPPIN'" space shuttle always costs the same per launch [1], so that if all you need is to launch a 400kg sat into LEO it's kind of wasteful. Shuttle is basically never used for private sector stuff anyway.

    As for the Russians, well with satelites, the cost of the sat usually exceeds that of the launch. The proton, IIRC, tends to turn into little bits and peices about 10% of the time.

    As for being ruseable, hogwash! That adds complexity to the system, as well as refurbishing costs. It'll add weight to the launch vehicle which either translates into a larger launch vehicle (= more money) or lower payload (= smaller market). Not a good choice.

    [1] - Yes, yes, I know, it will vary a bit, but not related to payload or anything...

    An aircraft can handle a landing a a downward rate of as high as 10-15 fps easily. I don't think a 10ft freefall would be that bad.

    Well, the original poster wasn't referring to the NR-1 specifically. Plus, I would imagine the NR-1, at the least, had refrigirated food storage, proper air purifiers, and some degree of temperature control, all things the U-Boats lacked.

    Actually, the nuclear boats are a hell of a lot more comfortable than the WWII era boats. (For rounds numbers, 2x the crew with 9x the interior volume)

    Actually, no. Did you read the article?

    1. Uses beta particles. Non dangerous[1]
    2. Think abou it: All energy used (battery dead) means NO radation remaining. It'd be no worse, than say, lead.

    'The Triangle' refers to the cities of Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill, in the central part of NC. It's sort of bordering on megalolis these days (It's kinda gone from a triangle to a blob..)

    Install desired packages on one machine. Copy /usr/portage/distfiles to the other 9 machines/. It only downloads if it can't find it in /usr/portage/distfiles
