I can't even begin to tell you how many dual shock's I've had to buy because something inside breaks off and the whole flipping thing stops working. It happens to me almost every year.

I haven't had too many problems with my old xbox controllers either. I think I have more of a problem losing the other half of the break away cable. I hate that even though it's a great idea and works perfectly.

There is one problem though. It hasn't been selling games very well.

I don't understand why people judge success of a console based on number of consoles sold and not the number of games sold for that console.

Who cares if a million people buy something that they never play or buy games for? The console maker doesn't make any money this way, the gamer doesn't have much fun this way so how is it a success?

I'd rather sell half a million consoles and 10 million games than 10 million consoles and half a million games. Wouldn't you?

The only reason selling the most consoles makes you #1 is because you have the largest group of people to sell your games to.

the fact that up until about 2 weeks ago the GameCube was out selling the 360 in Japan which is one of the markets Microsoft went after HEAVILY and are still flopping even after a re-launch or what ever the hell they called it.

the fact that Microsoft has yet to make any kind of profit on the 360. They lost over $200 million this quarter alone in the division of their company that includes the 360.

Theres a lot more to throwing a real football. The way you grip the ball, your arm throwing motion, the spin you put on the ball, the strength at which you can throw the ball, the accuracy of your throws.

With the Revolution controller you'll swing your wrist in the direction of the reciever. It's not even as complicated as playing FPS games with a mouse. It's more comparable to playing a game of darts but with less throwing motion. (From what I've read the Revolution remote is very sensative and you can control things with just wrist movements so it's not like you'll have to swing your entire arm to make something happen)

It sounds like a cool idea to me. I hope baseball is next. You could use the controller to pitch and to swing the bat. That would be cool.

  15. Re:What Evokes These Comments? on Katamari Creator Critical of Revolution · · Score: 2, Insightful

So why is there such a big market for joystick style controllers for flight simulators if a standard controller should work fine? Why do PC users swear by mouse and keyboard combo's when they could easily hook up a PS2 controller to their computer? What was the point of virtual reality of a normal TV should be good enough?

If you put your self in a bubble where the entire room is the screen and give your self a new controller (maybe the movement of your body? and a gun for shooting things?) and you've got your self a completely new gaming environment. How is the controller not a huge piece of this?

In gaming you have the hardware, the screen, the controller and the game its self. If they were all equal the controller would make up 25% of that. Thats huge.

If we always used the same flat screen and same basic controller how would we ever go anywhere with games? There would be very little freedom of what we could do.

The problem people seem to be having is that they aren't using their imginations. They are trying to fit our standard type of games we play today into Nintendos new concept and they just don't see how they can play all their favorite games. They refuse to think about NEW games and NEW ways of playing games.

When people think about sword fighting games, golf or baseball games for the Revolution they think of you swinging the controller around wildly or acting like a real base ball player and to me this just seems kind of stupid. I mean it could be fun but it doesn't have to be that crazy.

Think about a baseball game. you could use the joystick part of the controller to move your guy around by the plate and hold the remote in your hand. slight wrist movements would move the bat around. You could swing your wrist foward to swing the bat with out even having to move your entire arm. It would give you full control of how your guy holds the bat and how he swings it. It would add completely new level of skill and fun to the way the game is played.

There are tons of possibilities for a controller like the one for the Revolution but you're going to have to open your mind first.

Not once you add all of the muscle, body fat and skin. The arm size shrinks a lot. Even if they didn't I've seen them and I don't see how it could possibly pick its self up with those arms. It might be able to do it but it would be a task. Maybe if it falls down next to a tree or something. Lets not forget that it can't catch its self from a fall easily and might break bones.

It might be fine taking an easy fall, but running full speed (what about 20-40mph or so? I dunno.) and taking a big fall? I don't think it could afford to do that.

The problem I have is that it seems like the first person who dug up a T-Rex bone took one look at it and said it's a predator and nobody has argued otherwise since then even though we have tons of other evidence to prove otherwise. Nobody wants to disapoint all of the little kids out there with their t-rex toys. shoot we were all one of those kids at one point in time right? maybe we don't want to disapoint our selves.

Take a look at the t-rex teeth and jaws. They were designed for crushing bones. Predators get first pick on meat and don't really have a need for all of that. The T-Rex looks like it was designed more for getting the left overs where you HAD to crush bones in order to get at the meat you want.

Really? There are hacks and emulators out for the DS and not once has Nintendo released a firmware upgrade to try to stop it.

What firmware version are we on for the PSP again?

The point about money was that Sony HAS cheaper options but won't give them to us. The small memory cart that comes with the $250 option is worthless unless you only use it for playing games and even then you probably want something bigger eventually. What I was saying is where is the $200 option? I heard it was coming but I don't see it.

Who said the PSP lineup was mediocre because of lack of hardware?

You wouldn't say the situation was any better for the DS? What are you talking about?

When good games come out for the PSP I will be there to buy them. At this point we own maybe a combined total of 5 or 6 PSP games in our house. 3 of which I consider decent games. None of which still get any play time.

I don't mean to say the DS browser will be better because it's opera altho it has been around longer and is probably more feature complete (but I'm talking out my ass on that because I have no idea what features will be in the DS version).

I HAVE seen videos of it in action though and it looks a TON easier to use than the PSP version. You have a keyboard that you can easily type on or hand writing recognition (yup that is in there too) also there are different ways to surf on it you can have a zoomed in version with a little box you drag around to display the contents in that section on the upper screen or you have anormal mode that uses the top and bottom screens.

Plus you'll probably have less problems with memory since it comes with the Memory cart (which hopefully will let you save pages for offline browsing but I dunno if that'll happen)
