Gee I'm sorry for saying you have double standards. I figured the second part of what I had to say would make it clear that I wasn't trying to lump you together with everybody else. I guess I should have said "Most of Slashdot" AND "most of you guys" oh well to late now.
That's pretty much a universal way of thinking and certainly is not limited to/.
Next time I'll juse refer to the most of the entire planet to make things more simple.
Not that I don't agree in this case, but most of you guys have no problem at all taking from the rich and justifying it because they're rich, or the fact that you just plain don't like them.
Something tells me if PJ was just some random guy with over $200 million dollars and New Line wasn't the super rich hated bad guy PJ would be the one taking all the heat regardless of the fact that he's right and New Line is wrong.
Not only that 100,000 refers to all movies, not a single specific movie. So that means each movie has only sold a few thousand. That isn't much at all. If you were a studio would you consider releasing your movie in a format that might only get 10,000 sales?
Nobody will use the PSP to display photos. That's a dumb feature. It sounds cool, but you won't use it. I don't care what you say. You just won't fucking use that feature. Once or twice to check it out doesn't count.
MP3's.. Hmm another feature you won't use, why? It's $80 bucks for a 512mb cart and $150 for a 1 gig cart. For $120 you can buy the 512mb Philips GoGear SA178 That's only $30 more than a 512mb cart and it's MUCH MUCH smaller than the PSP. You can actually cary it around and use it for what it was meant to be used for, unlike using the PSP to play MP3's. Oh, and there are other, cheaper mp3 players and even smaller ones too.
Movies... Hmm tell me do you spend your entire life traveling so that it makes it worth your time to buy your entire collection of movies in UMD instead of DVD? How many times can you watch the same movie before you get bored of it? Are enough movies going to be sold so that people will take notice and start releasing tons of movies for the PSP? I mean get real a few people might buy a bunch of movies for the PSP but most people will buy a handfull and that's it and they won't get watched much either.
Games. What games? I don't see any games worth playing at all, do you? What games are coming out? GTA? WHEEE I haven't played that one before, nope never.. They haven't re-released the same fucking game 3 times in a row. Nope.
Also the DS is not a bad quality product. It's actually GREAT quality, sure it might not have the most bad ass screen ever like the PSP but that doesn't mean it's not good quality.
My DS has seen about twice the play time as my roommates PSP which doesn't really even get used at all anymore (after we all got over how cool the screen was, there was nothing..)
BTW Kirby Canvas Curse is a GREAT game and Bomberman looks pretty sweet too.
When you say buy do you mean $5-$10 bucks for probably hundreds of games? Who cares. You could still afford to buy the Revolution, the entire game library from all of Nintendo's previous systems excluding the gb/gba and gamecube and STILL have spent half as much as it costs to buy a fucking PS3
First of all Nintendo Revolution IS backwards compatible with the Gamecube and takes Gamecube disks.
Second of all Nintendo said the Revolution EMULATES NES, SNES and N64 games and allows those games to be downloaded through their online service. They haven't said anything about charging for that service, yet, as far as I know.
I doubt they will charge full price for each and every NES game you download. A few bucks should get you a nice bit of games, maybe all of them.
It seems pretty obvious to me that online play had nothing to do with the success or lack of success for this generation of consoles.
The Xbox had the best online play with xbox live and it hardly beats out Nintendo for 2nd place.
If PS2's online service limps along then why is it by FAR the #1 consol and not the XBox?
I personally don't know anybody at all who plays their console games online and just about everybody I know owns all 3 systems.
Was online play really that big of a factor??!
As far as America goes I'm willing to bet that KIDS perception of playing adult games versus "kid games" has more to do with Nintendo's lack of success than anything else.
(the reason I say kids is because I don't know a kid over the age of 7 or 8 that doesn't think the GC is for kids..)
Kids are still the largest market by far and a lot more people can afford a $200 revolution than a $450 ps3/xbox360.
Eventually more people will start to see that gaming isn't about having the fastest machine and best graphics it's about having an inovative game that is fun to play. Graphics are just a really nice PLUS but the main thing should ALWAYS be game play.
Yes but nobody says their car costs less than 100k when the car costed 28k.. they say their car costed less than 30k.
They wouldn't use such a high number if the console was only going to cost 100 bucks.. they want to use the lowest number they can get away with. think about it for a second why don't you?
It sounds to me like they're basically saying we should expect $450 to $500 or so.. If it costs $400 then it's lower than expected.
Who gives a fuck. GTA3 got boring after Vice City who fucking cares if they release the exact same game YET AGAIN but this time with new maps whoopty fucking doo
In fact it seems to me that OTHER gamers like to flame fanboys and then fanboys end up having to defend them self at which point the other gamers turn it all around and try to make it look like the fanboy is talking all the shit.
They don't know about all the.lnk,.desktop business. WTF makes you think THAT matters? Shit most people dont even know what a short cut is. They probably think that stupid icon IS the program.
It doesn't matter if linux has 20 ways of doing this and they are all confusing..
The end result is still the same.
You have an icon.. you click on it.. your program opens..
WTF there is no "finally" about it. PS2 was the first to try this and the PS2 is the current generation of system so wtf? its not like this has been in practice for 20 years in the game industry or anything.
im sure if they knew how popular it was they woulda attempted something like this with the snes -> n64 or something.
Wasn't sony the first to try this with the PS2? That would be the this generation of systems. Its not like theres been 10 generations of systems since then. This is nintendos first chance since sony proved it was a good idea, right? What'd you want them to do? re-release the cube with n64/snes/nes backwards compat. ? lol

Slashdot has some serious double standards.
200 million isn't enough to rebuild baghdad regardless of who you use for labor.
Not only that 100,000 refers to all movies, not a single specific movie. So that means each movie has only sold a few thousand. That isn't much at all. If you were a studio would you consider releasing your movie in a format that might only get 10,000 sales?
I meant to say it's $90 for 512mb memory cart for the PSP.
I wouldn't say it's a great deal.
Nobody will use the PSP to display photos. That's a dumb feature. It sounds cool, but you won't use it. I don't care what you say. You just won't fucking use that feature. Once or twice to check it out doesn't count.

I remember that mod :-P

Sure, it's a bargin but it's still way too much money. A LOT of people will not be able to afford to buy this.
Then you're not thinking hard enough.
If the only thing you can think of when you think Nintendo is Mario and other franchise characters then you obviously aren't in the know.
Perhaps you shouldn't be thinking out loud.
I don't think that is true at all.
In fact it seems to me that OTHER gamers like to flame fanboys and then fanboys end up having to defend them self at which point the other gamers turn it all around and try to make it look like the fanboy is talking all the shit.
Case in point. This thread.
What? Thats the stupidest thing I ever heard..
.lnk, .desktop business. WTF makes you think THAT matters? Shit most people dont even know what a short cut is. They probably think that stupid icon IS the program.
As far as the END USER cares its a fucking ICON.
You click on it and the program OPENS..

How the hell is that flamebait?
THIS is flamebait
fucking moron slashdot mother fuckers

GET A FUCKING CLUE
Seriously..
It was a fucking joke.. see the ha ha ha at the end? Blah why am I wasting my time on this site.
list the games out horizontally and it's about that long haha

YES!!!! I agree! or the SNES which in my opinion is still one of the best and most fun game systems every released with tons of awesome games.
I agree up to GTA 3.
I don't see any reason for GTA 3: SA to be as popular as it is.. Its just more of the same old shit.. if they make another GTA 3 im going to puke.
Which is funny because the GameCube is capable of having better graphics than the PS2.
Resident Evil 4 is a good example.
I guess we'll find out when the PS2 port comes out.
People are stupid.
