I'd say 4 to 1 was pretty accurate. Take a look at the last few weeks of Japans sales numbers. The new ones should be in tomorrow.

For the year (up to Dec 24th) the DS Light sold 7,247,105 in Japan and the PSP sold 1,780,498

That's just the DS Light. There are nearly 1,000,000 DS sales in that time too which pushes the total to well over 8,000,000 for the year.

These numbers are insane. Click the link for the full set of numbers for that week.

If they're selling the system for a loss or breaking even and not selling enough games to make up for that loss then homebrew is not exactly helping the situation.

Besides you can homebrew on a DS for half the price and on top of that you actually have some good games to play and decent battery life.

Great post except for a few tiny things.

Game consoles aren't sold to make huge levels of profit. The main part of the profit comes from the software (games) sold for them.

You point out the Microsoft and the Xbox which is a horrible example because Microsoft made billions and billions of dollars on software not hardware and the Xbox lost billions and billions of dollars.

She would have sued even if the coffee was just normal hot. Spilling coffee in your lap and getting burned is spilling coffee in your lap and getting burned. It sucks. The coffee being normal tempature only makes it suck slightly less. The fact is you still burned the shit out of your crotch and it fucking sucks. It's your fault not the coffees and not Mc Donalds.

Mc Donalds coffee being too hot and this woman spilling coffee in her lap are two different issues in my opionion (unless the coffee burned her legs off and now she is stuck in a wheel chair).

Mc Donalds wasn't in the right for having super hot coffee. They should be spanked and forced to make slightly colder coffee. This woman doesn't deserve their money for that shit. I've burned my tongue on their coffee too. Where's my money?

If Mc Donalds personally kicked the cup out of her hand and made it spill in her lap then I'd say she had a right to sue. She spilled it in her own damn lap.

I get annoyed when people bash the Wii graphics because of Zelda. It's not a Wii game. It's a GameCube game. Up until a few months ago there were no plans to even have a Wii version.

For a while there was a rumor that the GameCube version (the only version) of Zelda would also support Wii controls but that turned out to be false.

It use to drive me nuts when my friends parents would keep referring to any game system as a Sega. They didn't care to understand. They knew we knew what they were talking about and that was good enough.

What I want to know is why the sales guy didn't explain to her that Zelda is a game written by Nintendo and is exclusive to only Nintendo consoles and explained that the PS3 was a Sony console..
