Oh right, give me a break. If this were happening to the Wii right now it would have been posted on all of the major sites including Kotaku, Joystiq and Slashdot. That news would have been too big of a shock not to be posted on every freaking game site. It's funny how things change. About 3 years ago it was all about making fun of Nintendo and bashing the GameCube by most people and game sites (not so much Slashdot though). Now that the tables are turned the Sony fanboys are hating it! You can make your cake but you can't eat it too?
It's funny that you ignore the fact that most sites DID post about the PS3 winning that award and DO post bad things about other consoles. Did you not notice all of the news about how bad the 360 was selling in Japan? Or all of the wiimote strap breaking issues? or the radio stations Wii contest where the lady died? (not that it's Nintendos fault. Don't blame the name. It could have been a 360 contest where they spin you around until the last one left alive gets a 360 or the Play Station of death contest where you run through a huge obstacle course called the Play Station and try not to be killed by the various deadly traps). The fact is that right now Sony is the one making most of the mistakes and Sony is the one whose console is not selling as well as it should.
And about that IGN award. It did get made fun of a bit by sites like Kotaku but for good reason in my opinion. It's an award for the best new console of 2006 but the reason the PS3 won is because it has the most potential in the future? WTF? It won an award for 2006 based on future on potential alone?! Besides isn't IGN notoriously bias towards Sony? Two can play at that game:P
Sure so why not wait until those games come out and hope that the price of the system has dropped? Why spend that money now for only 1 game especially when you have tons of other games you're playing and maybe can't afford the $600.
Also $600 isn't accurate anyway because who honestly just walks out of the store with the system and a single game? Even then you'd probably be over $700 (assuming you get the 60 gig version) plus better cables and maybe another controller or two maybe some cables to charge the batteries (not sure how all that works on the PS3 but for the 360 the chargers are hard to live with out at this point).
Personally I wouldn't walk into a store and buy a PS3 unless I had $1,000 in hand but that's just me. $800 would be my minimum.
huh Wii shortage over in the US? Not even close. I'm sure there are some out there in some cities but they aren't easy to find in most of the US.
Didn't you read any of the stories from this weekend about all the people lining up at stores to get Wiis? Tons of people lined up to get a Wii last sunday (all over the US).
They sold out FAST here in my town. I heard of some stores having in the 40 to 60+ people lining up for 20 or so Wiis.
If you got Wiis near you grab me one please? I still can't freaking find one:(
I doubt MGS4 will come out for the 360. A year or so ago the I remember the creator (forget his name) saying something about wanting to bring MG (not sure if he was talking about a new MG game, a port or what) to the Wii but it won't or might not happen because of contractual reasons.
I could be wrong though and I'm not sure if it covers future versions or spin offs but I'm pretty sure that MGS4 is bound by contract and will remain a Sony exclusive unless they give the go ahead or he pulls something off or something.
I know Snake will be in the new Smash Bros so I guess that is a good sign. It's probably just MGS4 he's talking about.
Anyway I think he's more interested in the Wii than the 360. I know the games always look nice but he doesn't seem that interested in the raw power compared to what he can do with the Wii.
I did have a questionmark at the end of that question or did you not notice.
What I said was there is a trend starting. Total sales the DS and PSP are fairly close in sales in America but the DS STILL has a huge lead in games LIKE IT OR NOT.
The trend I was talking about has been going on for the past few months and it shows that the DS has been selling more and more units over the PSP every month with last month giving the DS far more than twice the sales and many times the game sales.
That my friend is a growing trend.
Look at the world wide numbers and it isn't even close. The PSP is not even freaking close to the DS.
By the way this is the WORLD WIDE WEB if you don't like it go back to logging on to your local BBS.
We aren't all Americans here and American sales ARE NOT the only ones that matter not even to Americans.
And also you just confirmed that you are indeed a Sony fanboy. Thanks, thats exactly what I wanted to know.
Now which games do you like? Wanna be they were developed in Japan by the Japanese? Shipped in Japan before America? Popularized by Japanese?
And you're going to sit there and tell me Japan doesn't matter?
Fuck it! I decided to read your email anyway. Dude you really need to get surgery for that thing, and about your babies momma.. Fuck what she said.... The bitch is crazy... Besides.. I read her email too and it turns out she is preg *again* with some other dude.. Man I feel sorry for THAT guy haha. And no.. It doesn't look like she's gonna give you the car back. Sorry.
Wish I didn't already respond to this article because I still have mod points. The GP was kind of funny just because I can laugh at that kind of thing but the whole bush went to war because of oil thing is obviously (to anybody who has half a clue?) bull shit.. Let me know when the extra oil starts rolling in I'm looking forward to the day because then atleast we could fucking say we got SOMETHING out of the deal.. Don't you think?!
So you want us to quote American numbers? You do realize that the DS has taken over here too? The PSP is going nowhere fast.
The reason I personally like to quote Japanese numbers is because:
1) they are accurate 2) they are released on a weekly basis 3) like it or not Japan has a lot of sway on American gaming.
You are, after all, a SONY fanboy are you not? Most of the games people enjoy playing on the PS2 are developed and popularized in Japan first.
NPD only does numbers in America about once a month and they are not close to accurate. They don't get numbers from every retailer. They're crap compared to the way the Japanese do their numbers. Trust me.
The last numbers I saw by NPD were for the month of November and in that month the DS sold about 900,000 consoles compared to about 400,000 PSP's and that trend has been going on for three-four or so months before that and only getting worse for the PSP. On top of that the PSP almost never has games in the top 10-20 in the American sales (very few anyway). The DS does. Not a lot but a lot more than the PSP. The DS is selling A LOT more games. Not just in Japan but America and the rest of the world.
About a price cut on the PS3: Let Sony answer that question for him.

Don't expect it any time soon. There won't a price cut nearly as quickly as the PS2 got one and it won't be for nearly as much.
(Although if it doesn't sell well for a year that could easily change)

I don't feel any sympathy for this guy at all. He should have learned the laws before he went off and did his own thing.
He wouldn't have ANY second thoughts about taking this code from ME if it was in his right.
Fuck him.
That's my opinion.
The PS3 isn't selling out in Japan either..

Texas is pretty close too. About 25 or so: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_beer_and_brewe
Good point. I have heard a lot of good things about Portland from friends.
Next time my friends band goes up there (from Texas) I'll have to come along. I hear the people are great too.
It was a cheap shot considering your grammar is really not all that much better.
You have obviously never been to Texas my friend.
Let us know when you have something other than a uninformed opinion.
You do know that a lot of us here in Texas are from Germany right? My entire family is from Germany. We came over here during the world wars.
Maybe in SOME parts of Texas (the ones most of us would prefer to avoid anyway) but NOT in cities like Austin.
There are huge Gay and Lesbian communities in Austin Texas and it is very accepted here.
What's wrong with Virginia?
"Central Market pwns Whole Foods"
I'd agree, but the're both Texas based. I don't even think Central Market or H.E.B. exists outside of Texas does it?
Don't forget the German cities in Texas such as New Braunfels and Fredericksburg.
The great beer and festivles.
I love Austin. I love Texas and I love Texans.

You got me... I got no idea what he's talking about.
Good thing he isn't President, huh?

My god how did they get the rocket to use that piece of junk media player?
I'm not joining you unless we have a cool name. Otherwise what's the point?

Not that I disagree, but if it didn't work so god damn well they wouldn't do it.
True enough! I was just picking on you for fun anyway ;)
Might have to give it a try.
