    Yeah... what's to stop an NT admin from screwing up the registry?

    It's not the same as source code for your kernel but can be just as crippling.

    Bah... this whole story should be moderated down to flame-bate.

    I'm still pissed that RedHat can't use that billion dollar market cap to grab NVidia and the other 3D manufacturers by the balls and get drivers released.

    Huh?! There are NVidia drivers and they are great for gaming. No, they aren't open source but they are there. 3DFX has drivers that are open sourced. ATI is working on DRI drivers for the Raedon cards.

    Besides, isn't that MS's job to bully people around w/ their money?

    3D support isn't that hard to get configured. 2RPM's and a one line change in my XF86Config file got my NVidia up and running fine. 2 Minutes (if that). I agree that it's a turn off to newbies to not have support out of the box but it will happen.

    For the next Obuscated C code contest, I'm going to write the follwing perl script:

    #!/usr/bin/perl
    print "Hello World\n";

    and then

    perl -MO=CC,-O2,-oobfuscate.c obfuscate.pl

    and submit the obfuscate.c

    Nope that didn't do it. The 'config.ini' (If I see ** LOCALIZE ME BABY *** one more time, I'm going to scream) seems to indicate that they belong in the same dir but I tried making a sub dir as well but it still segfaults.

    First of all . . . fix the installation, folks. I selected a really minimal custom config. and what did I get? EVERYTHING

    Better than what I got. It segfaults right after it asks me for the install dir (yes, I have perms).

    I even tried DL'ing the installer twice. I noticed the xpi dir but there's no instructions in the README on bypassing the autoinstaller. I assume you can get away w/ just sticking them in the same dir (or maybe an xpi sub dir).

    I went over to Yahoo to see if it WAS my connection, and guess what? Yahoo loaded in about 2 seconds.

    Hrrmm... ever heard of routing and bottlenecks? Guess not.

    Let's see if we can get away with banning people under 18 from watching the news. Oh, another good one... let's ban kids under 18 from walking down the street.

    If we can just shelter these kids from violence, they'll never even know about it. Simple as that.

    - Is it really going to help?
    - Who should really take responsibility for your kids?

    I went to the sites on the list that there was "no way" to get back to the previous site and I had almost no problem getting back in either Netscape or IE.

    Both browsers have an option in the back button to skip several pages back.

    - In IE, it's the little down arrow next to the button.

    - In Netscape, you just hold down the button for a few seconds.

    Is it annoying, YES but is it really that big of a deal?

    You gotta be kidding me. I thought that the mulitplayer is a joke in V:TM! Most of the time, there is no structure w/ a ST that is just spitting out a monster here or there and handing out weapons and XP like candy.

    All of the characters hacn't been built up properly so it's no fun. It's like D1 when everyone was cheating!

    You can find "Gem Shrines" which will upgrade a gem in your inventory which makes it more powerful. There's like 4 or 5 different levels ranging from chipped to perfect.

    Only weapons, sheilds, and helmets are socketed for gems. Some can hold up to 3 gems.

    There's also some new armor (sash, boots) slots in inventory (at least I don't remember them being in D1).

    Well, I have to assume that the data is non-volatile. I didn't see anywhere that explicitly said if it was or not.
