I don't think it would be reasonable to believe that.

In this case it is probably irrelevant for almost everyone, in that the people ordering a Vita game are likely to have a Vita. However, I can see similar situations where it could be believable. Several years back I got an Amazon gift cert code for my birthday. Had absolutely no indication who it was from. Not even sure it said Happy Birthday on it. I didn't find out until a month later it was from my sister, who had presumably missed the part where it mentions to include "to" and "from" on the gift note.

I can confirm that is generally correct for FIOS (so I can't imagine why it wouldn't be in Oz), since at my old house it was inside, my current one it is outside, and I've visited homes with it in the garage.

  6. Local versions give more control on Ask Slashdot: Can You Trust Online Tax Software? · · Score: 4, Insightful

A friend of mine made an interesting point to me a few years ago, and caused me to switch from online versions to the local ones you install on your system. With the local versions, you get to keep the data files. The online versions tend to purge from year-to-year, or at least after a couple years. If you want to refer to an older return, be it because you are being audited, or just to help figure out something on this year's forms, you'll have everything (worksheets, forms, etc.) with the local version, assuming you back up the software and data files. Online, you probably just have a PDF of whatever finally got submitted to the IRS, and that's it.

So yeah, online versions work, but local ones give you more control.

Often times, if you can bring proof to court that you had the malfunction repaired (generally a receipt from a reputable mechanic saying they adjusted/replaced/whatever the relevant part) the ticket will be dismissed. For example, my sister was cited for having her windows tinted too dark (she bought the car, used, in WV, which is less stringent than VA, where she actually lived). She had the films removed, came to court, and the citation was dismissed. Of course this probably only works about once per car.

I am NOT impressed with the Ricoh we have in my office. It continually flashes this error about "Cannot install this software" on the display, and the technicians say there's no way to get rid of it. It jams frequently. The thing loves to beep loudly and frequently about EVERYTHING (and yes, it is in the cube behind me). It isn't bad, but it isn't what I'd consider "good" either.

But beyond that, I really dislike the "about an hour ago" nonsense. I like that we get the actual times on /. instead of those estimates. And further to that, unless you do have some sort of auto refresh, they don't make much sense, because they become outdated quickly. Let's say I load a couple of stories in different tabs, read the first tab, close it, go off to do something else, then come back to that second tab an hour later. None of the times are correct! On the other hand, if it says a comment was posted at 16:45 EDT, well, that's not going to change no matter when you happened to load the page vs. read it.
