In the case of Lotus Notes/Domino you're not talking about active scripting in email, but about a local replica of a server database. Indeed, you fill in the forms, get back to work and sync it with the server replica.
1. Mandrake 8.0, *the* desktop distribution _and_ a dot zero release.
2. A kernel lt/eq 2.4.6 with known problems and definetaly/not proven/.
3. A large-scale *production* server.
Here, here... What a lot of people seem to be missing is that this "thing" is not a bug, not even an vulnerability, it's a *feature*, standard HTML/webpage behaviour. Stop using HTML in your mail! I don't want it, you don't want it either!!! Educate people on why they shouldn't want it and why they don't need fancy make-up in email and what overdoing fancy stuff can lead up to.
Now, stick to not sending HTML to college's/friends and how could this vulnerability live on? The JavaScript bug comes from a third party, contained in the HTML. Don't forward the original HTML and the bug stops. Period! New message? No bug! Simple. No HTML.
YESS! Tweakers.net is broken! We kneel in from of admin Rick hoping this will advance the healing of Tweakers.net. In the mean time some pictures so we don't have to get bored.
So, probably something broke, they already fixed it by the time I'm typing this.
As I see it, the biggest win is that IBM would never have sold this machine if Linux hadn't run on it. No way would the client have been able to run it cost-efficient if he had to pay for thousands of OS/390 licences. This is why IBM is pushing Linux. Let someone else maintain/build the OS, we'll help them for free and in the meantime we sell hardware and services.
Think printing. Right now your monitor has a resolution of 75 dpi and bitmaps are made for that resolution. But you still can print them on you 600 dpi laserprinter. Although you don't take 100% advantage of the 600 dpi, it'll still look better then when it's printed on a 300 dpi printer.
I don't know how dpi settings work in X, but I can imagine that X could be made to use 3x3 pixels for a single pixel from a 75dpi bitmap (200 dpi is almost 3 times as high as 75 dpi).
So, all you have to do to be ready for such a display is alter X. At a later stage you could rebuild/enhance your wm to use high-res bitmaps. Or you could scale them, etc..
AFAIK all the records you hear on 3FM are being played/started from the computer and are probably in MP3 format. They must have a huge collection of MP3's over there.
A little while back there was a hit by Kosheem (Hide you) which was played a lot on 3FM, but which you couldn't buy anywhere. The station obviously got it from Napster and advertised it a lot.
3FM has been the #1 popradiostation in the Netherlands for years, non-commercial, sponsored by the government.
Not only that, but finally I have been put in a position to make up my own mind about the whole MP3 sharing thing. Until now I thought it was (at least kind-of) bad to take a whole lot of music from artists without paying them for it. Right now I'm thinking I'm not going to sponsor the record- and hardware selling parties who want to take away all of my digital freedom! Maybe I still will buy CD's from the more tiny, independant recordlabels (most notably HipHop and House), but nothing from major parties anymore. I simply refuse to finance their struggle to limit what I can do on the 'net and what not! I'll descide for myself what's right and what's wrong. Thank you very much!!!
Yeah, I'm glad my latest VCR was a Philips and not a Sony. If I'm right, as though I used to be a Sony fan, I'm officially Sony-free right now!:-)
That bothered me. He's trying to convince us that he is right, using braindead arguments. I quote:
I do worry a *little* bit more about the PR aspects of this, though. There will be a temptation among the less-dedicated journalists to say that now that Sun and HP and RedHat all favor Gnome, then it must be a standard for Unices. After all, everybody knows that Linux *is* RedHat, right? I am already seeing mentions of this and as people jump on the bandwagon, we'll likely see it even more.
Especially the "right?" part. This writing needed the <RANT> tag. He obviously is pissed that Gnome is backed and not KDE, the desktop that is soooo superiour to Gnome. Well, this is your wake-up call, maybe Gnome isn't so bad after all. Maybe the big boys think it has a good feature in front of it. Get over it, get back to coding...

A quick test (using an Eclipse 2.1.1 from eclipse.org):
:)
Eclipse 2.1.1 with JVM
- Second start: 13 seconds
- Memory Eclipse: 80 MB
- Memory JVM: 65 MB
Eclipse 2.0.1 without JVM
- Second start: 9 seconds
- Memory: 96 MB
The download page seems to indicate you're downloading an Eclipse 2.1.0 version, but the about dialog says 2.0.1. Which one is it?
Cheers,
Thimo (back to coding in Eclipse 2.1.1
