    Shut up and take my money!

    I do my DTP on a Pentium IV with a 4:3 screen because the simple fact is it's far more comfortable looking at a document on a 4:3 screen than it is a 16:9 or a 16:10.

    you don't have to keep every window maximized to the full width of the screen... you can have multiple windows, each with a 4:3 ratio. Just a suggestion. #NOOB

    the apple macbooks are the best because they are still 16:10 ratio. it's an extra inch taller than the standard 16:9.

    Yes but it would require an app update to make that change, and apple approves all program updates. So just switch the free/get button at that point.

    correct. civil asset forfeiture (what this is) is legal thuggery. at least in this case there's at least some relation to an international prosecution, as opposed to the sherriff deputy in east dumfuck taking your cash at a traffic stop.

    that's one thing i'll never understand about those crazy europeans - high value coins. i mean, they have 10 euro coins! that's like 15 dollars!!! and these are in high use. in US the most valuable coin in mainstream use is a quarter. isnt that weird???

    I also think it's notable that polygon was the only major game site that did not receive a prelease copy of fc4 to review. They were the ones who wrote a harsh editorial criticizing Ubi's embargo policies. I don't know how to spell retaliation, but fortunately my phone has autocorrect.

    But the problem is when it is coming from a government-funded agency. Is it appropriate for the government to determine what is considered sexist? Is the nature of sexism black and white, where it's easily to tell very easily if something is sexist or not? I'd rather have ratings done by a non-government funded agency.

    Yeah, we need to back up on this. The /. headline was horribly misleading. A better way to put it, a private advocacy group won a one-time govt grant to explore this. Govts and universities and NSF give out all sorts of grants for all weird topics. So don't flip out about the guvt angle

    I'm surprised I'm the first person to say this but, there's a lot you can do to improve your coding skills that have nothing to do with coding. Bring books on logic and matrix math and all sorts of things like that, and a whole bunch of paper pencils and erasers.algorithms, core computer science stuff that has nothing to do with programming or even a particular programming language.

    Try bringing your $6,000+ quad-Xeon cheese-grater Mac Pro into an Apple Store for support -- the "geniuses" will all gather round to look at the fascinating museum piece, before they tell you that they can't help you with your "legacy Mac". :^P

    You're wrong to feel abandoned. Apple hasnt abandoned the hardware, they just are no longer offering support in that store. To be fair. It's out of warranty by several years. The thing still works, and you can get it serviced elsewhere or flip it on CL for a decent sum. It didn't vanish into the aether.
