    I listened in for a bit and it was very confusing. The punctuation marks especially have very confusing names and not enough pause between them. =( came out as: equals..... signpar-en-the-sis ... very confusing. And why "traditional hyphen"?

    It also mispronounced "Linus Torvalds". How hard would it have been to sample Linus' name properly?

    Of course, these are all things that can be improved as time goes on and I do hope they will actually do so.

    [+] actually this was a marketing lie. It had 32K RAM and 16K ROM with a unified address space. I think the 16K version had the same ROM, so it would be fairer to call that a 32K, if you want to include the total...

    Not true. The Spectrum 48K hat 48K RAM consisting of the standard 16K augmented by a separate 32K bank. There was also a RAM pack with 32K in it which you could plug in to the 16K Spectrum.

    Along with the 16K ROM (which was identical in both versions) the 48K Spectrum filled up the entire 64K Z80 address space.

    Yes, I do know the Spectrum architecture like the back of my hand... :)

    Although this license states that they will not be liable for any damages caused by the program in question, there is no mention of damages caused by the license itself (in my case, coffee spurting out of my nose while reading the license).

    I'm gonna sue their asses off!

    I've been looking, on and off, for cool light dimmer circuits (schematics etc. - not finished products to buy), but I've only been able to find some rather basic ones.

    I'd like a digital dimmer circuit. I'd like DMX512 transmitter and receiver circuits. I'd like to see how people use IGBTs for dimming. I'd like to see a circuit which can dim fluorescent lamps digitally (I found an analog version after much googling).

    Any hints?

    You're right about the sterile environment! Even the rogue mercenary ships never have overflowing ashtrays, half-eaten pizza still in their boxes, tons of paper printouts, beer bottles, magazines, used condoms, toilet paper or mouldy bananas anywhere.

    Nobody ever sneezes so hard their face gets covered in snot.

    Nobody ever farts.

    There are no trash cans anywhere. Huh?

    When the ship gets shot at, the bridge falls apart in rubble like a brick-and-mortar house. Are ships made of concrete or what? Anyway, we never see anyone clean up...

    Of course, knowing ST, all this will probably be explained away with some mention of mouldy pizza emitting disgusteron particles which interfere with the warp drive, or something.

    even if you could prove that your GPS receiver was at position X at time T, how would you prove that YOU were also there? Unless it's implanted under your skin...

    Of course, it really depends what you want to do. In Switzerland, devices are being installed into trucks which register position and time in order to collect road taxes. The device is attached to the vehicle and tampering with the fixing will probably get you a heavy fine.

    It's real alright, the physics they describe are legit. And no, you fucking morons who don't even bother to read the site, it's not done with pressurized air. They use a rather strong electromagnet (6 Megawatts), which you couldn't plug into a household outlet. Read here.

    Where the fuck does the idea come from that your should show your web server stats to marketing/sales people? Because current programs are really just some measurements of technical data, useful for planning server loads and Internet uplinks, but not for demographic data. PHBs want something like this:
    • Yesterday, 1308 people visited your site. Of those:
    • 183 weren't paying attention at all anyway.
    • 22 were your competitors.
    • 318 were poor college students drooling over, rather than contemplating buying, your products.
    • 139 were actually looking for pornography and left your site immediately.
    • 38 were webdesigners stealing your HTML code.
    • 133 were here to compare your prices with the competitors. Of those, 29 decided to buy your product.
    • 84 were in your target demographic, but were so stoned at the time that they didn't read your sales pitch.
    • 12 people actually bought something online.
    • 18 people liked your product and went out and bought some offline.
    • Of those 30 people who bought something, 28 sent the URL to a total of 56 friends to show off what they had just bought. Of those friends, 3 subsequently bought something.
    Ok, so where's the software which can get that data out of your server logs?
