    @Kjella: "You need to go into the BIOS and disable secure boot, then it should load on all of them. If it would boot your Linux distro it'd also boot whatever malware was trying to trojan Windows and that's exactly what they're trying to avoid"

    Microsoft: "Secure Boot is a security standard developed by members of the PC industry to help make sure that your PC boots using only software that is trusted by the PC manufacturer."

    I don't understand why these members of the PC industry didn't include the Linux makers in the design stage and instead made Secure Boot Windows only. I also understand that UEFI doesn't play nice with dual boot, purely a coincidence no doubt.

    I would have thought the solution is to built 'computer' that can't so easily be hacked. DDOD attacks only being feasable because of all those hacked Windows desktops out there in cyberspace.

    The problem with the Abrams Star Trek movies, is they're not really Star Trek movies. They do contain a Starship called Enterprise and the crew are called Kirk, Spock, Scotty, Bones, Uhura, Sulu, Chekov. But the core has been excised and they've been rendered for a generic audience. You can tell Abrams doesn't trust his audience to engage with the characters, hence the reason the plot races at breakneck speed from one spectular effects/action sequence to the next. Take 'Star Trek Into Darkness' for instance. This just from the opening sequence, Enterprise underwater, volcano exploding, natives attacking and so on.

    NO, the main reason is because the OEMs have been prevented from marketing a Linux Desktop. Mainly by having to pay Microsoft 'Per-system' for every machine shipped, regardless of whether it ships with Linux or without. Microsoft haven't been able to get the same deal in mobile space, which is why they are reduced to charging the phone makers for an 'Android Licence'.

    I don't think it would be necessary to have someone killed based on SSN. It would more likely be of the form of discrediting them with false allegations of financial or sexual improprieties.
