  6. The national anthem is overplayed. Even at dinky peewee league games it is played. Same with the flag. Almost every porter potty now comes with a US flag. It is constantly on and everywhere losing its meaning. I never understood why the anthem is played at national competitions anyway. Play it at international competitions and for other noteworthy events. That way it remains special and might receive the respect that some demand.

  7. I'd be quite happy if Verizon offered a me too, mainly having a means to watch ALL subscribed channels via a web player. TimeWarnerSpectrum had this for years and it worked very well even over their unreliable and patheticly slow connections. Another welcome me too would be a properly working 3rd party ID service. When using Fox2Go on mobile the login via Verizon typically does not work. This wouldn't be "copying what others do", but considered catching up. For what they charge their service and devices should be significantly better, crash less often, and have reasonable hardware replacements included. I think after 7 years they can give me a new remote for free having paid for it at least ten times over already.

  12. Uninstall Krapersky on Ask Slashdot: Should Users Uninstall Kaspersky's Antivirus Software? (slashdot.org) · · Score: 1

Krapersky shovels tons of data from your system to servers in Canada and Russia without any explanation as to why this is necessary. And without Krapersky system no longer need half an hour to boot up and your browsers start working right again.

  13. The answer is easy: exclusively use Linux clients. For those cases where Windows is needed keep a handful of VMs around that run Windows. This case also shows that the common claim that for every Windows app there is an equal Linux counterpart is false. It further shows that the Windows ecosystem made it impossible to switch to alternatives because there are none.

"Why the F am I carrying ID?" - An ID that you can only obtain by providing your SSN. What we need is a national ID that is also tied to a residence registry.

"And if that information is abused, it's up to the victim to correct it - if they can - and cover the costs."

Equifax should be forced to cover those costs and provide the services using a prime provider for life for anyone who was subject to that breach. The pathetic one year monitoring just doesn't cut it, especially when it is done by a obscure company with a shady track record. Anthem did the same thing, they offered monitoring for a year, but picked the worst vendor on the market to offer that service.

"We must have European regulations and laws regarding our data and privacy. Business is incapable of acting ethically, fairly and honestly." Likewise, we need to have the laws changed that individuals can pick their own health insurance company with the employer paying the same subsidy as for the company plan. Sadly, we got the wrong president in power for any of that to happen. It is more likely that the few restrictions will get tossed as well.

Microsoft's lifeline is Exchange and with that Outlook and with that Office. Windows comes second, but Microsoft's management tries really hard to make people hate Windows so much that they look for alternatives (that currently are not better or even worse, such as OS X). Yes, Microsoft sunk a lot of money into XBox development and they have yet to turn a profit on that product line. It is not as bad as Windows Phone, but not great either. Any decent Windows gaming PC outperforms the XBox. The only area where Microsoft was and still is #1 is development tools. Look at any modern IDE and they are all modeled after VisualStudio. Sadly, that same excellence does not extent to Test Manager and TFS querying. As far as fixing Microsoft's issues....ditch the top five management levels and do not replace them. Hire a spokesperson for public presentations. That saves a ton of money and Microsoft will operate much better than before without the dozens of clueless micromanagers at the top.
