  2. Perfect upgrade! on Ask Slashdot: Share Your Experiences With Windows 10 · · Score: 1

I upgraded just recently and it's been an absolutely smooth ride since. I love this OS so much! It's so simple to use and I don't have to spend hours to download and install additional programs and drivers from the Internet. Only the VGA driver was necessary to download and install. When I upgraded it took me like 20 minutes to install it and I was good to go! ;) Unbelievable! Big plus is that you don't have to use any antivirus or any antimalware as it is pretty safe by default. The only thing about safety is that you should at least turn on the firewall, and possibly adjust some settings if you want. Wait... are we talking about Debian Linux or Windows 10??? I upgraded to Debian 8.5. The last Windows I used were Windows 7. Since then MS is dead for me.

No. I routinely use Windows XP and Windows 7 in my audio studio, and these systems are not connected to the Internet. Their sole purpose is making music. For everything else I use Debian Linux with MATE desktop on another bootable partition, but I usually use my laptop with Debian Linux and MATE for Internet. One breathes much easily with Linux for Internet. No virus-antivirus and no malware-anti-malware "games". Just using the computer like a normal human being without any worries.

You are an uneducated vegetarian who thought that not eating meat only will make you healthier. Well I have newsflash for you: you have to change your diet appropriately. It is not just about dropping meat and eating everything you used to eat before. I have been a vegetarian for 30 years of which I've been a vegan for 6 years. My health and my blood is perfect. I had problems with anaemia in my teens but I recognised that I had to change my diet and introduce more fruits with C vitamin which helps iron absorption. Since then I drink tea with lemon before lunch at least, and at least some fruits between meals. Regarding D vitamin, you have to eat sun dried button mushrooms. They contain loads of D vitamin. The only problem is how to get B12, and its deficiency also contributes to anaemia, so you have to either take the B12 supplement or get enough of it in supplemented foods like soy milk.

They will make it easier to decline W10 installation because the main goal has been already achieved - the dumbest part of the population have already been upgraded and there's no point in doing it any more. Also, losing the case in court helped, too, as they want to avoid losing money like that. It's all really carefully pre-calculated. They're not as dumb as you might think. This is like saying sorry to your neighbour after you've already shit on his porch.

So I propose that instead of waiting for them to fix anything [it's like "Waiting for Godot" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/..., rather forget about them and never use any of their products again. Exactly. People should know that creating a separate /home partition is pretty essential if you want to retain your documents and program settings between OS upgrades, and upgrading every two years or so is highly recommendable anyway. I did it 3 times already on my Thinkpad, from Debian Squeeze, to Debian Wheezy, and recently to Debian Jessie. It left all my program settings and all the documents on the /home partition intact. So never install everything on one partition in Linux if you're planning to upgrade or change the OS later. You should at least have a separate /swap, /home, and the main OS partition.
