I'm against Chrome and I'm not going to say anything because I'm using Debian. Windows is long forgotten thing of the past for me. It should be for everyone else, too, but apparently it's not. Well, everybody has a cross to bear... I ditched mine.
Really? I started drinking when I was 13... well not actively, but that's the first time I remember [wagely lol] being drunk for the first time. I was 16 when I got involved in drinking parties, though. Once a week or so. 21 is a bit too late IMO to let you do whatever you want. Too conservative. And how about sex? Children these days involve in sexual relationships in their very early teens. Doesn't that mean they are kinda adults? That being said my first sexual experience was when I was 18. With a 15 yo that practically raped me. Now that I think of it it feels a bit weird.
I've been a Facebook addict for a couple of years but I eventually realised there's not much point to it. It wastes so much time. It is good as a way to re-connect and possibly stay connected to some people you used to know and still want to know. It is also useful as a way of spreading news, but lately that point has been blurred by so many fake news. It is certainly not a good way to spend your day, that was my point. Get out, meet with real people, party. In the long run FB can make you quite depressed, too. That's when I realised I have to get out of it. Nowadays I just post some crap from time to time, just to keep it running. I also check what my friends who are also real friends are doing. Essentially I use it to make real appointments with them, too. It's just one of the additional ways to communicate with people.
But if you find yourself "facebooking" for more than a couple of hours every day, you should seriously think about what you're doing with your life.
Wealthy parents busy working? They're not working, just making a pile of money they already have bigger with a ton of help from their employees who are trying to make their own pile of money so they could stop working for those arseholes and be an arsehole independent from them. Being wealthy is mostly about having to attend meetings, appointments, parties, heaps of expensive food, alcohol and drugs, pretending to be depressed, having affairs and just not working in a classical sense of the word. I mean, why would we aspire to be like them if it involved high amounts of real, either physical or mental work? The whole point of getting rich is to be able to stop working and enjoy your life properly. That is unobtanium for the 99%.
OK, what's wrong with the internet is way too much ads and popups everywhere, but this?! I was expecting something completely different. This is more of a LOL than a serious issue.
I just wanted to point out that audio over optical is still very much alive in the pro audio world, in a different, ADAT format. That's all. I work for professional studios as a tech and it's much more present than AES. ADAT connection also uses wordclock for synchronisation. Wordclock works independently of the digital connection you use. Although ADAT sends a digital sync signal over the optical cable, it can be unreliable at times, if you have 4 preamps with ADAT connections connected to your audio interface [32 channels of audio], for instance. One preamp could work just fine without WC, possibly even two. I always connect WC, if possible, just to get a cleaner digital audio, though.
Speaking of consumer audio, I wasn't aware of the TOSLINK optical connection dying. All of the PC motherboards still have it and not many have coaxial SPDIF connection. Why is that then? However, audio over HDMI must be the most popular solution at the moment and it is the most convenient for the regular PC user, but some people still like to have pristine audio quality, those who have hi-fi systems and most of the amplifiers these days still have both SPDIF and TOSLINK inputs. Far, far better than connecting the cable from the PC analogue outputs to the amp.
I couldn't care less. When I saw the abomination of an OS called W8 I said to myself "It's over with Microsoft for me." Since then I've been running Debian and being a really happy camper watching the game they play with masses of people from the side. It's funny once you get away from it and watch from the side. You should all try that. I also have a Debian 9 live DVD with me at all times to demonstrate to people how a real OS works. What Windows 10?! It's a ridiculous garbage of an OS made to annoy users and it's so full of bugs, holes and spyware that it's amazing so many people actually use it. I don't get it. But it's damn funny! LOL Some people will never learn. Well, you get what you deserve, I guess.
I wonder when will we finally start to really see the Microsoft company for what it really is? Just a money sucking, copy and paste and ditch, no worth bloated and spying software company that it really is? Maybe when more of its shilling employees get ditched, I suppose. The web is oversaturated with them.
"The standard never got a foothold in professional audio."
That's why I'm using so many ADAT optical connections, probably... It has been used and it is still used in professional audio a LOT. One ADAT Optical cable is able to carry 8 channels of audio at 48kHz/24bit. Very handy. Although there is quite a few standards that are going to replace it in the years to come, like MADI and various network audio protocols. These new protocols are great and I really love them, but ADAT optical is still very, very popular.
This looks like the start of American puritan censorship of the Internet. It's going to be groovy... just imagine, all avatars have to be fully dressed up and appropriate for kids. All posts with swear words will have *beep* put instead, or *beeeeeeeeeeep* for longer swear words. Next up you will get banned for saying anything against the government. Now what does that remind me of... China? Russia? The authoritarians are coming. It's going to be great./sarc
I don't see the point in removing such a useful feature, as well as MicroSD slot and removable batteries. It's almost like selling you a car without seats. What are they thinking? Or not thinking rather...
However, thinking about it a bit further, you can never expect a really good advice from a salesman because he will always try to sell you what's more expensive and what's better for his company in some way.
True that. Newer hard disks are less reliable and when we get bigger SSDs for the same prices people will think twice before forking for a HDD. However, in the mean time they are still the cheapest and most reliable solution IMHO. I bought 2 1TB Toshiba HDDs lately - I can wholeheartedly recommend them. Fast, quiet and reliable. The last 2 Seagates I bought had some problems and I use one only as a backup because SMART shows errors even though it hasn't been used much. I steer clear from Seagate HDDs since then.
That's really interesting because I have some 10 year old hard disks here and no problems reading anything from them. OTOH, I have 10 yo DVDs who are problematic indeed. I'm starting to think that it's really good that optical drive's days are over. It a POS. It's only reliable for a couple of years. HDDs are far more reliable. I love HDDs. You just have to activate them from time to time and they'll keep working. Until they break some day. You can always copy your valuable data [porn] to a new HD. HDDs are the best archiving solution available right now, my humblest opinion. Just copy them around from time to time and keep an eye on the SMART data.
I don't need anybody to sell me anything. I come to the store to buy a thing that I like. All I need is someone to give it to me and take my money. I actually find people giving me advices rather annoying since I usually spend days researching about the thing I want to buy.
I don't need any science to tell me that global warming is happening. I've lived long enough to be able to tell the difference from 40 years ago. All I need is to go in the centre of the city, watch all the cars and pollution around me to tell me that it's we who are to blame. All it takes is little brain and imagination. For example, just imagine 7 billion people taking a shit every day... twice. Then imagine all of them buying something in a plastic bag. All it takes is a little brain and imaginative thinking, really. Maybe a bit of empathy, too that people of today are immensely lacking.

A butt plug is hackable? Of course it is. What's so weird about it?

Indeed, SMS is the best way to get in touch with people.

That's what I was referring to. lol
Although funny, there is something to it, mate... ;)

Absolutely, I don't trust the salesmen, but I would like to spare myself from having to research it all by myself.

Entirely agreed. Cloud backup is absolutely ridiculous. People's minds are too much in the clouds.

I completely agree. That's why I don't trust Windows.
So true. Often these days companies want to eat the cake and have it, too and the creepiest thing is that they easily manage to get away with it.
