    I kind of doubt that is the case, as a consumer you submit a tube of saliva.

    I still fossil hunt (mostly braciopods). There are areas where the earth is nothing but fossils 50+ feet? at least. Layers upon layers. I would think if there was a civilization we would find things where they were not supposed to be. Like all the fossils and geodes that have been moved to my backyard.

    I am sort of an amateur fossil hunter / rock hound. My SO and I dig up stuff and bring it back, much of it gets tossed in the yard. We donâ(TM)t find fossils from there over here like someone intentionally moved them.

    Could just be a scare tactic by the government. Otherwise why show your hand? Use it to your advantage as long as possible before people find a way to hide from it.

  6. ...there's still part of me wishing they would have launched something semi-useful. Something like having a competition for building an ultra cheap satellite. I think it would be pretty inspiring to be part of a college team that built a satellite, then it could be tracked and used for lessons down the road. Maybe they would find unexpected readings. Or they could have launched something with an experimental energy source / materials, something for science, etc.

    I go to the eye doctor about once every six years, prescription is only good for two years. Never had an issue ordering glasses, I don't see what the issue is, don't ruin cheap and easy to get glasses for the rest of us by complaining.

    Every time I turn on the radio I hear about all of these illegal unaccompanied miners crossing the border. We don't have enough jobs for you!

    They are suing for 30 million, including physical injuries and emotional distress.

    I imagine the bulk of what they are suing for is emotional distress.

    They likely have home insurance and will be reimbursed. If anyone has a right to sue Amazon it will be the insurance company, to reclaim the money they paid out to the homeowners.

    Also keep in mind "The lawsuit seeks $30 million in damages and asks a jury to weigh additional financial penalties against the retailer...In addition to costly losses of all of the family's possessions, the lawsuit says the family should be compensated for physical injuries and emotional distress." They are suing for more than just the cost of their possessions. Not to be mean or anything but if you have a million dollar home and it burns down you are probably not going to end up on the street. They can probably rent an apartment for what it cost to heat and cool their house.

    Is what I have, a year ago it was $230, they probably have updated models now. It came with 2Gig RAM and 250 Gig mechanical drive, I upgraded it to 8 and an SSD, so there would be that expense if you do not already have the parts. Fanless, upgradable HD, light enough to actually carry around.

    Not the wheel, soap, firearm, electricity, etc.

    Second, the list seems the be heavily weighted in current technology, kind of understandable to make people care, but the google glass of today is the Nintendo VR of the 90’s or the nest, or the rift, or segway, or 3d printer, 20 years these may be a joke

    I have relatives that live by the ocean, I do not know all the specifics, but the house is anchored some hundred feet into the ground, the first floor/ garage has "walls" designed to break away in the event of a flood, etc.

    Seems like a lot of work and money just to live by the ocean.

    I would think so as well, I would think the incentive would be even greater to pirate it, pay 50 bucks or wait wait a few hours to pirate it? They must be thinking enough people are going to be paying to account for that.

    Don't use it... what if your job involves managing Windows machines... find a new job?

    What if you use Windows only programs for school?

    Some of us have to use Windows for some things.

    I relied on my navigator who relied on bad GPS coordinates and ended up in dirt roads of backwoods of south carolina in a dead cell zone. You would have thought in the ten hours it took to get there she could have looked up something on a map... but anyway, I would not want to rely on just one or the other, I am absolutely terrible with directions, I really prefer to have a map and GPS to verify each other. I really hate trying to find campsites in the dark that only give vague directions, go three miles turn left, go .7 miles, second road etc.

    Having basically step-kids I am not worried about the violent part of the video games, but how much time they spend on either video games or their phones (which seems like every waking hour).

    I don't watch videos here.

    I don't really care about the moderation system, I view all. I would leave AC posting, leave out editing, it's good practice, not like this is a typo going to the CEO or anything.

    Maybe some different content, seems most of what I see here I can see on google news yesterday in the science/tech/health/politics section.

    Would be good to see that someone from /. is at least reading the comments and acknowledges concerns, not moderating and replying to every post, but at least knowing that someone sees the concerns.
