If the submitter had bothered to even glance at the slackware forum, he would have seen that David Cantrell and Chris Lumens have gone back to school now that Windriver dropped slack. Pat (who has always been the main man) has been busy shipping slack 8 and other business details he didn't have to worry about when wccdrom/bsdi was doing the publishing. He still updates -current occationally, and other than the latest fancy kernel, it's still one of the most up to date distros out there right now.
It's a good thing you didn't go with the MSI MS-6380, mine has been a worthless piece of shit since the day I bought it. i.e. the floppy controller never worked, the second ide controller is extremely flaky, the raid controller (I got the Pro-R) looses data, the onboard sound doesn't work with even the latest kernels, and the AGP slot is unsupported.
My box is named spaceheater for this reason. It runs at 50oC with an ambient temp of 45oC with my case open, and 68oC with an ambient temp of 55oC with my case open and an 8" fan from walmart blowing into it. It's completely stable either way, but I run it with the case open anyway just to be safe.
actually, if you read the article, it's aimed more at the business side, rather than the home gamer side. If you want that look into the new thing from mandrake/transgaming, or get the transgaming source via cvs from sourceforge.
I've got Slack 8 and winxp dualbooting on this machine right now. I've got it setup the same way I did with slack 3.4 and windows 95. lilo in the mbr, and I'm set.
Even better, I'm getting calls that say some like "please hold for the next availible operator." Now I'm supposed to wait for them to finish their current sales pitch before telling them to bug off? I think not.
I had on as a kid, and I know where it's sitting in my closet at home. It was great. I was sad to read of their demise just an hour ago, so I ran down to my local wal-mart (drove, same thing), and saw a few sets still sitting on the shelf! Erector Set isn't dead, you just have to know where to look! (Wal-Mart has everything)
Hopefully they'll do the same thing that the Slackware team did after Windriver dropped them. Continue developing, and find someone else to press the cd's, keeping a greater percent of the profit for themselves.
It's called a college dorm. There's food, plenty of switches, and a DHCP server (at least here anyway). Dorm = 24/7 lan party, and it only costs $10,000/year!
weren't there like 3 manufactures of the 3DO? We all know what happened to that lame piece of hardware.
Did you even bother reading any documentation at all? Try http://www.slackware.com/book

how could you spend $1500 on a mobo, athlon and ram? I spent $300 on a mobo, 1.4Ghz Athlon and 512MB DDR RAM and I still think I paid to much.
*cough* RAID *cough*
thanks, I didn't realize that
*this text added to avoid lame speed filter
tweakui is now called tweakxp
*this text added to avoid lameness filter*

This is the funniest shit I've read all week! Have you ever thought about submitting it to segfault.org?
*Second time submitting this post (what the hell is an invalid form key?)*

Since when is fox a cable channel? I've never had cable, and yet I've had a fox station all my life.
I think I just found my new counter-strike spray paint!

You're insane, Will Ferrell is the funiest man in television and movies today!
