And I'll third this one. The graphics might not be visually stunning, but they're accurate (as is the sound). Very cool stuff. Makes me wish my videocard didn't flake out on 3d programs - time to get a new card, just to play BZFlag again. (not kidding)
bzflag nick: Easy Target (or Morph)
Run, cowards - I'll be returning to BZland soon. I hunger.
Look, you may think that sounds funny and all, but in the next Disney movie with singing turtles, you'll be, ahem, singing a different tune when they can't find any singing turtles that have any rhythm left. No more singing... under the sea!
"The Moon is a Harsh Mistress," and "Starship Troopers." Don't let the crappy movie fool you about ST - it's a very serious book. Both novels deal heavily with duty and personal responsibility, which every kid needs to know a lot about, and most adults, too, sad to say.
I hope that computer controlled system can rip the M off the side of the train, and hook it onto a local donut shop sign in case of an emergency. _That's_ why you need human operators!
I don't think a company commonly known as 'United Parcel Smashers' is an appropriate place to take something to be _repaired_. The replacement parts they get shipped in would probably all be busted in transit, anyway.
Is there no way to use GTK with Java? That'd be a nice cross-platform target. GTK on whatever platform you're running, with all the logic on cross-platform Java. No clue if that's doable, and too lazy to use Google to find out right now.:)
Wouldn't you be just as well off with, say, a Python & PyGTK app? You wouldn't tell the difference between that and a regular C-based GTK app, either.
I was just reading in Linux Journal about natively-compiled Java apps, so that's apparently coming, once they get some more work done on it. I'm not sure why you'd want that over C++, though, unless you just prefer the syntax of Java.
Hell, man, that's *way* past geo (22,800miles?) - how far is it to the nearest LaGrange points? I'll hafta check, but I'm thinking way farther than that. What is out that far (but not near far enough for an L-point)? Hmm.
Okay, so what's with this 'fanless' claim? Fully half of the mobo is covered by a heatsink, yet there IS a fan right there in the picture. I'm confused.
Also - can this thing boot from that CF connector? That's the problem with several of these things lately - no bootie from CF.
I'm fully intending to make a nice MAME box out of a system like that, booting a massively stripped-down Win98/ME hybrid off a CF card.
Or you could fake a Sesame Street bit - the Count. "One minute on hold...Two minutes on hold...Three minutes on hold...HAHAHAHAHA!" Or a fake Oscar the Grouch complaining about how long the hold time is, etc. Or the evil version, of course, is having Elmo saying anything.
re: TMBG, yes indeed! "Peaches," "Kitty," and "Istanbul, Not Constantinopal," "Birdhouse In Your Soul."
Probably hafta use the censored version of "Kitty," though. 'Tis a shame.
I liked another poster's idea about parking it on a good indie radio station. I recommend KEXP (kexp.org) - stream available online. John in the morning is a pretty awesome show.
I suggest the Bunny Hop, and other such music. Children's songs like "I'm a Little Teapot," or "Head & Shoulders, Knees & Toes (Knees & Toes)." Oh yeah, great stuff. "Pop Goes the Weasel," "The Hokey Pokey." Classics all, and guaranteed to drive most sane adults totally bonkers. Then when they get annoyed and hang up, you don't have to talk to them!
C'mon, where've you guys _been_, it's ALL ball bearings, now! Just replace the ball bearings and use some 30 weight...no, wait, better make that 40 weight, pop it back in the GNDN tube, and you're all set!
Hey, anybody got a towel? I just hit a water buffalo...
Actually, if you search around a bit on the net, you'll find people have been having those multi-universe space battles for a few years now. It's pretty interesting to see the Galactica going at it toe-to-toe with Shadow vessels from B5. Some really nice animation out there...wish I had some links to post, but I'm at work. Sorry for the tease.
I don't know, but who cares? He was so fantastic as Bester in B5. I hope he someday does something where he could finally get to say 'nuclear vessels' in his normal accent.:)
The best Trek thing ever was their (well, most of them) appearance on Futurama. And I loved Fakes' bit "Yes! Front row!"

Ooooor, we could call upon the services of the mighty Superman!

> but Coca-Cola Prize Patrol doesn't have security clearance now, do they?
:)
Hey, don't be so quick to make assumptions.
Oh _hell_ yes, they did! They even passed out free ice cubes for the dancers' nipples. Vegas - what a great town.

Okay, so, which one is which, again?

What I _really_ wish they'd get harsh on is those morons in the theater with the laser pointers. Now _that's_ who deserves 3 years in the clink!
> At any reasonable speed, you're looking at a 24 to 48 hour trip
That's a _shitload_ of crappy muzak, there! Better bring a fully-loaded iPod.
And hope there's no crazy guy singing 'Roxanne' while you're in there.

Hmm. I propose a giant 'tongue' made of buckyballs to spring outward from Earth, capture said unmarked briefcase on the Moon, and bring it back to me.
With said money, I will promote the best roadside attraction ever: a giant tongue that stretches from the Earth to the Moon! Can't lick _that_!
Profit.
In addition to Spaceballs the Railgun, don't forget Spaceballs the Flamethrower! Fun for the whole family...
*psst* Shut up about the quietly moving into position. It's supposed to be a secret.
Besides, more weapons = more jobs.
> Uh, that (the "undiscovered country") is a reference to death, you know ...
Boy, I'd really like to see Shatner explore the Undiscovered Country!
Yeah, but Captain Proton is the best bit in ANY ST series. EVAR!
