Severe user error. Oil changes should never be dependant on an idiot light appearing. Simple, easy, basic entry level care maintenance (How hard is it to drive to a discount oil change place, dealership, or even Walmart these days...

A little care goes a long way... heck, most of the maintainance schedules are handed to a person along with the car (hint: it's the book in the glove box that has "Maintenance" or "Maintenance Schedule").

amazingly well. It's not perfect, but all things considered, it is rather efficient.

One other place to check out is Headroom for various headphones and headphone amps, as well as some interesting info on amps... The amp is a must... even a relatively cheap (battery powered) headphone amp makes a world of difference (plus, with battery power, you have one less AC supply to worry about - get some NiMH rechargables and have a ball).

I have bought from Headroom, but I don't work for them or know anyone who does.

Putting both processor cores on a single die also requires the duplication of the L1 caches, and (preferably, though not necessarily) the L2 cache as well. This creates a *much* larger, hotter chip, with lower yields, making it far less attractive to the desktop market.

Without a duplicated L2 cache on the chip, the cores could easily become starved for bandwidth, and the number of cast-outs and line fills on the L2 would be greatly increased, lowering performance. This can be seen on the P-IV chips (Prestonia) with hyperthreading (Jackson technology, IIRC)... in that case, there isn't a second full core, just a replication of certain execution units and such, but has only one L2 cache. It does provide a solid 25-35% performance gain on a lot of typical workloads, but does add extra heat, etc.. Fun for the whole family.

Well, aside from the fact that you would need a whole lot of Ping-Pong(TM)* balls, when you translate that to an electrical signal, you'd have to deal with clocking. With the difficulting in getting the bit across neatly, it becomes even more difficult to send a correlated clock signal on an equivalently phased path or embed a signal into the pulses (which requires more decode logic and can create quite a delay inside of a chip).
