Anyone who is disenfranchised by words that have practical technical meanings, they will not be successful in cs. Foo and Bar should be changed because the acronym is derived from fubar which has bad language in its meaning.

The name change is not a big deal honestly. They could have changed the name kept quit about it and almost nobody would have noticed or cared.

  3. I support his change because the current terminology reminds me of the fact that the middle east and Africa took more white European slaves than the white Europeans ever took from Africa (not to include the record setting amount of African slaves taken by the sultans of Arabia throughout history). PS: This is virtue signalling by python devs. Its the equivalent of posting a selfie of themselves giving money to the homeless, which would be more productive in California.

    Stop shitting up the planet.

Why? I have no kids and I dont care about those that come after me. Unfortunately for earth, most people have my mind set. Maybe we should have encouraged people to have kids so more people would care about the future of society.

I meet people (developers) who move from cali to reno NV all the time in order to escape high taxes. After this, they will be escaping either higher taxes (to further subsidize solar) or high taxes AND high energy prices. This law will have to come with a tax on people moving out of state, or some sort of tax on people who *used to* live in California.

  14. The states should make their own NN laws. That way, those who dont like NN can move to a state without them, just like those that dont like huge taxes can move to a state without it (like californians moving to Nevada).

  15. I only meant to point out that people who work because they have to and not because they want too, will stop going to work. Also, of course there are plumbers that make more the the average software developer, and there are software developers that make more than the average plumper. I worked manufacturing to may for college and I can be certain, nobody was there because they wanted to be.

  16. I love my job (software dev) so I would continue to come into work. But what about plumbers, welders, construction workers and burger flippers? Will they still come into work if they were guaranteed a paycheck anyway?

  17. This is normal under a society that has private property. The only way to stop it is to restrict private property. Good luck.

When Baghdad was a center for science and learning, it was the stupid mob that started executing people for speaking truth.
