We have this problem in Montreal... Montreal is losing about 20'000 people per year, everyone is going in the suburbs, problem is that Montreal is an island and the bridges are packed every morning and every evening... What was a 20 minutes commute 10 years ago is now almost an hour. And bridges are old and are falling... Taking the train/metro/bus would take me between 1h15 and 1h30 which is worst.
It makes sense, I am Canadian and when I tried to use the magnetic strip at a US merchant (WalMart) the terminal wanted me to insert card and type my PIN instead. And it wrote all messages in French:)
True, my SO has a $179 Moto G2 and I have a $199 Asus Zenfone2, both bought unlocked, add a cheap 32GB SD card for music/movies and we are in business. I'm sure we can keep them easily for 2 or 3 years.
The G2 runs a clean version of Android, the Zenfone2 has some bloat that can easily be disabled, and ZenUI is surprisingly fast and good.
No way I will spend $700 on a phone!
My $300 "Family Actifry" was not working anymore, I had to disassemble it, about easy for a tinkerer, but damn to change the 15A fuse you have to disassemble everything because it is on the LCD control panel! I routed a fuse holder on the side so if it happens again it will take a few seconds to change:) Problem looked like a cold solder that heated too much...
It's because it's easy to install a new firmware (ddwrt or tomato), set your country as JP and use channel 13 for instance at full power, they want to prevent things like this.
5GHz frequencies you are allowed to TX is very complicated, just check the table on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...
My GF bought a Motorola G 2nd gen for $179 and I bought an Asus Zenfone 2 for $199, both are great phones and unlocked too!
This is a realistic price, but $700?!? wow...
I guess it's the same in a lot of place, I live in Suburbia, 20 miles from work, but I can do it in 25 minutes with my car (~90% highway). With public transport? it's bus+train+bus and about 1h30... forget it.
I have a $5 eBay USB to IDE/SATA thinggy
I plugged my circa 1990 Seagate 40MB IDE PIO1 in it, it works fine.
A null parallell can also be used with a soft like Total Commander, they have a DOS version that can communicate fine with one running in Windows.
IIRC you can add your phone number in Facebook settings and it will send you an SMS for something called "notification push". And use Tinfoil for Facebook to browse FB on your phone.
I installed Chameleon ROM on my S2, two years ago, it's a Samsung based ROM with the crap removed, it's the best ROM for S2 for sure, very stable, and with FM radio still working. Still working fine.
I live 60 miles from the border and go in the USA at least once a month for groceries and shopping, a lot of stuff is almost 30% cheaper, gas too!
I entered USA more than a hundred times (always by car) and never ever had a problem, it's always the same question:
Where're you from?
Where're you going?
For how many days?
To do what?
Yours car?
Anything to declare?
Have a nice day.

In the US you mean? In Europe there is diesel hybrid, in Korea there is even a Hyundai Elantra LPG hybrid.
> US chip cards are set to "prefer signature"
:)

I have Chrome Beta 46 on my Android devices and do not see this problem

I was surprised 626475 is considered a low number too?!?

It's like the ATM machine we see sometimes :)
True, as a French guy I read this as 1.425%... at least they could have written 1'425% to remove confusion...
True, last year as a consultant I made some Ada and 80186 assembler on a 25 years old product, that is still kicking and being sold around the world.
yeah, even CmdrTco made his AMA on reddit years ago...
You can be sure USA will recover it, or Russia. I'm sure USA already recovered a Russian fighter to analyze it.
From Oakley, Ray Ban or Philippe Starck? Sure you mean $349.
LOL 5 digits :)

Was there a Cessna flying around?
> 10 years and 510 million km
FTFY
So now Motorola phones will have spyware and bugware like the Huawei ones?
I was programming in Ada last month, so this one will not die too...
