FreeDroid RPG looks like a horribly cheap "linux" themed remake of Diablo and Syndicate combined. Vega Strike looks good though, but why not play the game it's based on BattleCruiser 3000AD and get the real deal?
Which was sortof the point.. There aren't any games on Linux that aren't already on Windows that anyone cares about. Get a killerApp and name it something other than "Tux blah" or "Penguin Foo" and you might find someone willing to switch to Linux for the games. Until that point you won't because games will for the most part always run better on Windows if they're released for both because the hardware makers know the marketshare is in the Wintel world. They will make better drivers for Wintel and that's not ever going to change until Linux gets an exclusive game that everyone wants.
As an avid gamer who used to use nothing but linux for 2 years about 3 years ago. I've heard of 7 of the above games. That's not counting the card games as they're fairly universal across all platforms and therefore not a reason to switch to linux for gaming. A few others are also multiplatform and fall under the above rationale too. Now then, on my "Wintendo"; which someone above already addressed; I have 11 games that I play everyday that are better than the 7 games I've played in the above list, and 1 that is the windows version of a game in the list. Why should I switch to linux for games again? Oh yeah.. I shouldn't that's right.
out of all of these replies none of them are right.
The Pentium is 586, the ppro, ppro w/mmx aka p2, and the p3 are 686, and the p4 might still be in the 686 category although it's architecture is significantly different from the p3.. which is why I classify it as the 786..
Actually, Action Quake 2 is made by the same person that did the original CS. So it's highly unlikely that it will be ported to Doom 3 since he's now on Valve's payroll.
yeah CSU is good about killing dorm bandwidth.. mostly because of when I went there, and we were all playing Quake3 and we all had our own servers set up. They really didn't like that.;) But I'm pulling at 371 from you. I live like a mile away though.
I'm not sure but it reads like Hexen and Heretic were Wolfenstein series games..I don't know if you inteded this or not, but Hexen and Heretic were actually based on a modified Doom engine that allowed jumping and developed by Raven Software.
so it's a family tree that doesn't branch.. heheh. So let me get this straight, metadata takes data that already exists in the file, and makes it easy to search your files. So there's this whole big thing on making it easier to find your files on your harddrive that you put there?? Maybe we should consider a national spring clean your harddrive day..
so you like not knowing what you're looking for, or not knowing what it is you're looking for? I'm sorry but I fail to see how your idea of a cloud is better than a well organized file tree?
in a nutshell, yes, it is the same problem, one that can easily be solved with appropriate filenames. And don't tell me about the wonders of how metadata can hold more than just the name of the file and all this, by the time you add any useful information to the metadata the data describing the data will be larger than the original data itself. it's rediculous, and as I see it is just more self-maturbation on the part of bored jobless software engineers that aren't solving any problems that need solving.
that's not a graph, it's a more detailed tree, and it's already arranged in a tree. I already arrange it by genre and then have itunes put it one big playlist.. there done.
That's too bad you made a decision based on a completely seperate game. Yes, it's the same engine and it has a couple of the same problems, mainly getting stuck to things. It's actually a much better game than Invisible War ever was and ever could be. Think of it as if Invisible War had never been released.
Actually 7.62 and 308 winchester are different rounds. 7.62x39 is the same round used in AK47s, mini-30s and other fun rifles of the sort. 308 winchester will not work in these rifles. same caliber, very different round
That's why I'm not employed by the technology "industry." I got out when I saw the bubble about to burst, about 6 months before it actually did. Now I'm gainfully employed in not the field of my choosing but it still pays the bills.
I'd be very interested in seeing the short that he first made. My best friend from high school would spend days rendering movies in Infini-D on his LCIII that were very entertaining and choreographed space battles. Anybody got a link to it?
You just answered your own question without realizing it. They program scalability in games so that someone with a slow computer can still play it, and then turn up all the graphics options and see how very beautiful it was on a high end machine. Consumer will then want said high end machine to play said game with all options turned on at more than slideshow rates. Think about when quake3 came out and most people could play the game at it's minimum requirements fairly well, but then you bought new hardware to take advantage of the rest of the special FX. I know I did.
Except you have to figure in how much money you've lost by tinkering with said game to port it to your machine. My time is worth a lot more than zero dollars an hour. So you're not spending money, but you're certainly losing a lot more than 50 bucks by porting it for free.

I'd go, if I didn't work at night, and have a fiance that would shoot me, and a computer fast enough to go. I hate you so very much right now.

So a glorified forum is a content management system now? Christ.
The "core" of windows is what makes windows, well, windows.. and is therefore not cross platform. do you even know what you just said?

you just said a whole lot of stuff that doesn't mean anything.
Or maybe you missed my obvious Star Trek reference
My only question is if he's going to be playing "Magic Carpet Ride" on his way into space. :)

That's just blah, there's no character there like there is in the icons. It's just bland and boring.

Waiting for my wife to call so I can pick her up to get dinner. That and unhealthy boredom.
