Actually, one of the biggest differences between real life tactics, and RTS tactics, has to be the suicide scout.
Warcraft 3 - "Hey, you peasant, stop working. Here, have a sword (militia run faster). Run into the enemy base, and tell me what you see. Oh, and keep running around until they kill you, cos I want to see as much as possible until you die" Peasant - "Ready to serve" (ok ok, I know that's warcraft 2 peon, but I like that one).
Another example: Sliders. Was orignally a FOX show. It was a good show in it's 1st season, then Fox's execs demanded it be turned to crap, which of course got it cancelled. Sci-Fi bought it, and REALLY screwed it up.
Why I'm holding fears for Firefly at the moment. It's *so* good (IMO of course) that I'm scared that the network is going to have to dumb it down, or cancel it outright.
Honest mistake. Whether it's by coincidence or by design, Michael Shanks's voice is incredibly similar to James Spader's. They don't look very much alike, but close your eyes and it's a challenge to tell the two apart.
Actually, one of the reasons that Michael Shanks got the part was that he turned up for his audition, and the casting people thought he was James Spader! This was intentional on Michael's part of course.
As to the reason why he's left the show, it was creative differences with the direction the show was taking. Michael more or less said, if you continue to write the show in this way, I'll leave. They said, here's your hat. *sigh* A pity. Still, Jonus Quinn isn't too bad, even though they've really made his character super smart. Corin Nemic really can't loose, can he ?:)
Since the departure of James Spader, the show just hasn't been the same.
How much of a fan of the show are you, if you can't remember that James Spader was only in the movie, and it was Michael Shanks that played the role of Daniel Jackson in the TV series.

"This can tie the OEM to a particular, potentially financially unstable Linux vendor and its support programs"
"With Linux, the OEM will have to take on the extra integration work to incorporate an add-in JFS or opt for a vendor-specific Linux distribution such as Red Hat, tying the OEM to that vendor for ongoing upgrades, support, and maintenance at an extra cost."
Wow, M$ saying that being tied to a single vendor is a bad thing, for once, they're right !
Someone better call Lance Bass !

I'm here in Wellington, New Zealand. Through Saturn (www.saturn.co.nz) we get cable TV, internet, and phone. The cost is around NZ$130 a month. The cable is 256down/128up and the TV only has about 30 channels, plus the PPV movies.
It's not a bad deal, and split between myself, and 4 other flatmates, it's pretty cheap. At least I don't live in Auckland, where they don't have this kind of choice:)
If you go to http://www.gamespy.com/ and look at the gamespy grudge (Currently Aliens vs Predator) and scroll down through the list of past grudges, you can see that the closest grudge ever is...
Ash vs Duke Nukem
At 2430 votes to 2437, the character of Ash just looses here. Still, I think it says a lot for how much Duke has been based, or at least influenced by Ash. I can see lots of other comments about this relationship as well, so I guess I'll just ask..., do you think that the fact that Duke was a playable character in games, and Ash (mostly - I know there's a game of the first movie) isn't has effected people's choice here?
"A United States grand jury this afternoon indicted Russian company Elcomsoft along with previously jailed programmer Dmitry Sklyarov on charges of trafficking and conspiracy to traffic in a copyright circumvention device."
So...
VCR's, Cameras, pens, paper, CR-R's,...
Hell, what if you hear someone read out of a book, and remember it ?
And what about the people that just move these things around..., that's trafficking.
Better lock us all away huh ?
..., or ANYTHING about sensing much fear, turning to the dark side, or completing his training.
My point? Let the movie stand on it's own merits, and that of Jake Lloyd (who I do think is a good actor), and not stoop to the cheap Star Wars references.
At this point, this is probably a movie that I will want to see, lets hope they keep it that way.
So using M2P2 a craft could beat voyager to the edge if the solar system. And ?? So ??
It's powered by the solar wind, which means that it's not going to get you very far interstellar wise, and I'm sure scientists prefer slower craft to study the planets.
So while I'm sure it's a good idea, I'm just wondering what _practical_ use it has. (and yes, I know all about the supposed lack of practical uses of flight etc:)
At least their acronym doesn't rip off Star Wars *grin*
More/boxes, yay! Where's the silly portal page that has _all_ of them on? I went looking for it at the last addition to/boxes, but couldn't find it. It's easier to see what the new boxes do on that page, rather than add them to your account one by one.
I'm confused at that - those keys aren't even next to each other - how could that typo have existed? Maybe a Dvorak?
Nope. Dvorak's "B" is qwerty's "N", and dvorak's "E" is qwerty's "D".
No, I haven't read the story yet :)
:)
I came across this the other week, it's a long but very good read. I honestly don't know how true it is, but I read it all anyway
It's the story of a guy who's mixing a band for a big label, and his trials and tribulations.
The Daily Adventures of Mixerman.

Do you see that happening at all in real life ?
I don't think so

I want to play too

There's something about battle orders in reverse polish notation
I'd rather listen to Radio Free Zerg, and The 12 Days of Starcraft than Celine Dion anyday :)
If he didn't realize that the world does not revolve around east-coast time, he was stupid.
Or, for that matter, the US.

Talking of length .., I asked a friend of mine who's in Weta Digital the other day what the running time for Fellowship was looking like.
He told me 2 hours, 45 minutes.
Since they're so close to releasing the movie, I can't see that figure fluctuating much.
Oct 31 = Dec 25
