  1. Spoilers ... :/ on Firefly Movie Using Viral Marketing? · · Score: 1

It's a pity that this is going to be buried all the way down the comments, but since I'm actively trying to go into Serenity knowing *nothing* about the movie ..., it would be nice if Slashdot didn't post God Damn SPOILERS in the front page story.

Haven't the learn from the Lone Gunman incident ?

Why do they have to make a profit from Google News anyway ? They make enough money with some of their other services, surely they could allow News to remain as a "loss leader" high profile mindshare venture. They do value the good will they have in the market place, moving News out of beta without changing anything from how it is now, would be a good move in that direction.

Surely "Not everything has to make money" can be reconciled with "don't be evil".

thecounter.com is going to be based on people who look at crappy homepages etc. though, which I would think is not representative either.

Perhaps so. I only stated that it's more realistic than w3schools's stats, if you're looking for the "general" market share. Any increase is a good increase, but as one of the first posters to this story said, it's not at 15% yet.

Hopefully 1.0PR (preview release) is only days away ...

Just one thing, w3schools.com is a site for people who write websites, so they'd naturally have a much higher percentage of non-IE browsers than the more general browsing population.

Personally, I keep an eye on thecounter.com to see how Mozilla's market share is doing. It's certainly more realistic than the linked article statistics page. Pity Google removed browser stats from the zeitgeist page.

I wasn't sure if it was, hence asking. It could have been referring to a dual channel stream of some kind, which would be interesting to me, if that was the case. Since no one's said that's the case, I'm going with typo.

They've refered to it as "bistream" in the title of the post on theora.org, and in the body of that post. But elsewhere they call it "bitstream", and that makes more sense to me at least. The term "bistream" is also not in their FAQ.

Google returns Results 1 - 8 of about 17 for bistream theora for me, which is few enough for me to consider it a typo. Is it a typo, or does it mean a dual stream of some kind ?

Reason I switched to dvorak: I was unemployed and bored, so I did it for the hell of it. Reason I've stayed with it: my wrists don't bother me nearly as much with this keyboard map, as well as I'm faster than I was on qwerty. Plus, the aforementioned fun with people trying to use my computer.
