    There are NO 64bit consumer processors currently available. I'm typing this on a dual Athlon MP 2200+, and it is most definately 32bit. The Itanium is 64bit, and the Claw/Sledgehammer processors will be, but neither is currently available for consumer use.

    KDE, emacs, and parts of GNOME can also be installed on Windows, so by that logic, they'd all be != Linux.

    correct me if I'm wrong, but, as far as I know, there is as of yet no known encryption that's truly unbreakable.

    One-time pads are proven to be completely unbreakable. An encrypted OTP message can be decrypted into any plaintext of the same length, so even brute force won't help you if you don't have the key.

    A strong, proper OTP would not be generated from a key at all.

    How do you intend to make a one time pad without a pad? And how would doing so make it strong and proper?

    Any OTP-encrypted document can be decrypted to any possible combination of characters, using the right decyption key. If you know the exact text of a certain part of a message, you can plug that in and get the portion of the key used to encrypt the message. If you plug something in that's not actually in the message, you'll just get a bogus key, and there's no way to tell the difference between a bogus key and a real key.

    What does apt-get have to do with "old stuff"? The Debian unstable and experimental repositories are some of the most current available. Besides, anyone can set up their own apt repository, and put whatever versions of whatever packages they want in it.

    As you can see, many worms have "mm" in their name. I believe it stands for "mass mailing".

    Most viruses are named for some identifying comment in their source code (Klez), or for one of their characteristics (Loveletter).

    So? Kramnik can only evaluate three moves per second, and he's kicking Fritz's ass. Moves per second has very little to do with how good a player is.

    Deep Blue was fed all of Kasparov's previous games, so it knew exactly what to expect and how to optimize its strategy. Kasparov had never seen a game played by Deep Blue. It's common among grandmasters to review that past games of your opponent to look for their weeknesses. Kasparov didn't have this chance, which put him at a disadvantage.

    Debian's logic is that 2.4 kernals aren't completely stable yet. When Debian says stable, they mean stable. Packages of 2.4 are included, however, just waiting to be installed.
