    Acorn did this too... a 486 on a board to go in the RiscPC's 2nd processor slot.

    Worked like a charm too.

    Surely a better test would be to measure the user's ability to use tools (spam filters, RSS feed aggregators, tivo-style commercial skipping, popup blockers, slashdot dupe checkers etc) to efficiently cope with / filter the "multiple streams of information" we're all bombarded with?

    In a rack of 1U units, does each 1U slab take 240volt (or 115 or whatever) each, and have its own PSU?

    I've often though it might be nicer if there could be one power supply for a whole room of PCs for example. This could be placed somewhere outside of the room and cooled there, with appropriate UPS backup too.

    12 and 5 volt lines then feed each PC - no noisy or hot PSU per machine... Peace and quiet, and a bit cooler too...

    ...or buy one of those Fujitsu or deathstar hard drives from a while back... that should easily define your data retention policy.

    Click-of-death zip disks work well too.

    And when you get run over by a bus, who'll be able to maintain / update your site? Is there a large enough base of Rails users such that your client can find another developer?

    Not trying to knock what you've done, but if I were your client, I might be happier knowing my site was written in a more common language...

    If it's anything like the old redhat releases, it'd annoyingly only use the third CD if you're not using a US keyboard or region. Pain in the arse to download the whole third CD just because one single region-specific package is on it... Can't remember which .RPM it was though, sorry...

    According to New Scientist 28/08/2004, it's a little more to do with long-term climate change, rather than predicting if you need your umbrella tomorrow in Bristol... Earthquakes and the Earth's magnetic field are also modelled too apparently...
