If it's abandoned and I can get up there, can I claim it under international salvage rights laws and sell off the pieces? It's only 20 million to get there should be easily able to make that back. Sell it as a weekend getaway with the best damn view on the planet, a steal at $500M.
someone from the oil and gas industry offers an ungodly sum of money to buy all the tech and research associated with it and then shit cans the whole thing.
I really enjoy watching a poor copy of a film on my small computer screen and 2" speakers, day's before going to see it in the theater. I was worried I'd have to see it for the first time on the big screen with surround sound. Thanks for saving me, kudos to you!!!!
That would make surfing for your pr0n a thing of near impossibility.:)
This is exactly why I keep a notebook, with the ip address, of all the porn sites I visit regularly in it. Never can be to cautious when it comes to your porn.
The patent is currently valid. If that patent is later found to not be valid then they'll have to stop trying to enforce it. If they continue to try to enforce an invalid patent then that would be illegal. As it stands they are only trying to enforce what the government has granted them the right to enforce.
Perhaps a very cheap non GPL license on Quake 3 would still compete too much for licensing with Doom3 that gpl'd code wouldn't. In addition I doubt iD wants to mess with marketing a bunch of previous engine games while trying to work with the new one. I think they'd rather wait a bit longer release the code GPL'd and not have mess with it any more.
I don't know what this guy is complaining about. Of course you'll be able to change & modify anything you own. You just won't own much,it will be leased and subject to useage clauses.
Knock, Knock (You): Hello? (Usage Police1): Sir, you are in violation of Section A456-G (Gratuitous use of a toaster in a motion picture) of the toaster usage contract you entered into agreement with, with Monajamoto Inc. You'll have to come with us. (You}:Yeah, well, uh, see, my wife and I were just palying around and....
(Usage police2): Add resisting arrest to the charges. (Usage Police1): He's looking at 15years mandatory.
Not that this helps anyone that being blocked but Websense still allows full access to SorceForge. Not that it really matters to me since I've got full administrator rights I can just unblock it.
It seems to me that this could apply to any use of a network legit or not. if one person is surfing the web and using his connection for email the email performance is degraded slightly by the web traffic and vice versa. Since it doesn't appear that any limits are give as to how much degradation must happen before this law could be invoked any use of a network in criminal. It's a stretch sure, but when has that been a problem for lawyers?
I have Cox cable and the interesting thing is that Basic cable runs $9.99 and internet access is $39.99 but if you get the two together you get a $10.00 discount on the total bill making the cable access free with a network connection.
Someone should send this information to Rep. Boucher and ask him to introduce a bill to eliminate this sort of licensing. Someone in his district could probably get the best response.
Take a look at this site 1st Books I'm thinking about using them for a couple of small books I'm working on. They use a print on demand technology so there's no upfront costs to you, plus you get to keep the rights to your works. It's worth taking a look at.
'Computer and video-device companies need to sit at the table with the movie industry. Together, in good-faith talks, they must agree on the ingredients for creating strong protection for copyrighted films and then swiftly implement that agreement to make it an Internet reality.'
" The most disturbing part of the story is that they claim deleting commercials is violating the copyright."
Well, doesn't the fact that they cut portions of the show to add room for new commercials mean they have already violated the copyright of the original show producers/owners, then...
Nah, The licensing that the networks get permits that kind of use. In any event many TV shows are designed for the commercials to be inserted at particular places by putting a break in the action ala cliff-hanger style.

That's exactly the degree combo I have and I strongly reccomend going ahead and getting the second major. Do it's worth it.
.... that there's a John Holmes University opening up soon that's also fully endowed.
I remember reading that John Carmack was barred from playing backjack in some Vegas Casino a few years ago.

Nah, eat a relly bad diet for a few days prior then walk up to the booth, ask them what's going on. Then as you leave, BREAK WIND.

Ok, I went back and actually read the bill.
If you own the network in question or have authorization to use the network then it's use is not a crime.

Probably not a good idea for people who grind their teeth, could end up making obscene phone calls while you sleep.
I know several people that can't calc a 10% tip in their head, can't guestimate even.
If it does work, is it really out of date?
