I'd mod you up. Not because I love Fox News. I pretty much hate Fox News ...except I've been known to watch a video or three, of Andrew Napolitano on Youtube, defending Assange and taking on other unpopular topics that the right tries to ignore, no that's not it. I'd mod you up because Slashdot has an overpopulation of cock smoking MSNBC apologists. It's too bad, I think they'd find me flexible and amenable to many of their "issues". But with this "my shit don't stink" attitude, they can all go fuck themselves. No skin of my nose. I'm not vested in the mainstream outlets, I have no personal need to defend any of them, and pretend that I'm capable of unbiased metrics that will determine which is lying to us more.

libertarians don't want to save the world, just their neighbors.

Republicans and Democrats each are 100% sure they know best how to save the world either from terror or poverty or inquality, at gun point if necessary. They don't give a rat's ass about their neighbors though.

real libertarians don't want to even be called Libertarian or libertarian, in fact they find the idea of collectivist labeling the domain of left brain sheeple.

when I was a kid, I was a democrat, then I grew up and became a republican, then I realized that both parties were filled with lying sons of bitches, and became Libertarian, then found that card carrying Libertarians are full of hot air, so I became libertarian (small L), then realized that I didn't fit that mold either.

Now I find most politicians, partisans, fox news, cnn, msnbc, etc, and a surprisingly large number of slashdotters to be lying, self deluded sacks of shit.

The culture of growth used to be also a culture of contraction, due to a natural cycle. There was balance. Periods of expansion and contraction. People were responsible, bought only what they needed, saved like a squirrel during the good times, in preparation for the lean times.

Now this country is built on living the lifestyle you want NOW, by financing it on your future labor & productivity. And very few squirrel away during the good times, in preparation for the lean times.

People can adjust to contractions. But not if they're loaded up with bills and debt. If you're renting a big apartment, you move to a small apartment. If your paid-for-car costs too much to drive, you take public transportation, ride a bike, walk, or buy a used scooter. If you're commute is 100 miles, you get a different job, you move closer to your existing job. If you lose your job, you use your rainy day fund.

In the last several decades, contractions are increasingly viewed as absolutely negative, and at the first sign of a small contraction, central planners manipulate people so that the small contraction is prevented. This is done over and over, till the strategy fails, and nature gets her way eventually, and we see a huge contraction, that would test even the most responsible people, and for those who are severely leveraged out (just look at debt to income ratio), they have zero chance of adjusting. This is analogous to putting out every small fire in forests. Then one day, the whole thing goes up in a jaw dropping inferno. The natural cycle of expansion/contraction clears out bad businesses, bad debts, reminds people to be responsible on a regular basis with minimal blood on the street, and prevents expansion for expansion's sake. The side effects of a debt based society that embraces central planning, and the idea that we can expand forever, till the music stops, and people scramble for a chair ...it is unsustainable. We're watching it in action, right here right now. This ain't a Republican thing, this ain't a Democrat thing. It's an "us" thing. The leadership of both parties have grandiose plans that are not sustainable. And the sheeple follow along as if it's only one party or the other that is insane... when the reality is, both parties are insane, and they are perfect mirror of their constituents... ...sorry for my long post with the slide into politics ..it's a bad habit. But money, economics, politics, etc are all inseparable....

If the the reflector has multiple focus points, these multiple focus points will also not move relative to the surface (again assuming the reflector's surface cannot be changed/morphed/warped). But as the energy source and reflector move relative to each other, then the peak focused energy could move from focus point to focus point.

Parent post almost sounds like sarcasm. But if it's serious, here are a few points you might consider:

    .

Do you really know the laws? There are thousands on the books, and thousands created each year.

Do you really know what's on your computer? If you're the average citizen, then there's a high probability that your computer has been or will be compromised at some point. "Hello Mr. Smith, we have some bad news for you. After forensic examination of your hard drive, we found evidence of money laundering, child pornography, and several thousand instances of copyright violation. But don't worry. We're going to make you an offer you can't refuse.

And you would not be able to rely on the common sense of law enforcement and the criminal justice system. You see, this is an adversarial process. It's not "Innocent to proven guilty". Law enforcement is tasked with making convictions, among other things. Numbers count. There's also this other little problem, the one of "low hanging fruit", ever heard of it? It's a reference to the fact that people tend to do as little as possible, and when that expresses itself in agents of the state, e.g. law enforcement, what you end up with is the majority of their efforts are expended on two bit criminals, and unlucky stupid people that are of no real threat to any one.

Here in the U.S., if I'm not mistaken, we're at the top of the list for the number of people imprisoned as a percentage of population. This leads me to believe that we incarcerate people for a lot of petty bullshit, especially the poor.
