    Google needs to fine tune their code. Enter "goatse.cx" and clicking "I'm Feeling Lucky" brings you to their uptime page at Netcraft, not the horrible image we all know and cherish

    my question for you is two-fold:

    why would you want to feel lucky after attempting to search for the unthinkable, and why, in the first place, would you want to search for goatse?
    (determining google's crawling abilities aside)

    maybe it has something to do with your sadistic cherishing of this image? ;)

    Who's to say that the BIOS won't phone home and report usage statistics on what OS is running,

    didn't this happen a couple of years back with another breakthrough Pheonix Bios, that never actually made it anywhere? Mainly people weren't interested in teh Bios' phoning home, so everyone bought award?

    my perception of history, anyways....

    ibm, redhat, sgi, and hp just all get together and chip in some $$ and just buy SCO? (hostile takeover)

    it is my understanding that this is what SCO wants.
    They no longer have a product to sell (cause it really sucks) and no way to make a profit.

    so they sue, hoping that one of the big birds will take them in one fell swoop.

    whatever. i dont think that subpeoning LInus will affect their case any.

    and another, ofwhich I can no longer remember the name....and the minute I hit the submit button, it will flash into my head, like a lightning bolt hitting a tree.

    and yes, they all work great, depending on the task at hand.

    we even ghosted our Testing Novell 5.1 server to our PXE/TFTP Server on Linux...although, the compression with ghost and Novell is horrible. (network boot and dump doesnt care tho)

    yes, isnt it amazing how the truth hurts people so much, they have to mod down my post. reality stings like alcohol in a cut. and when people start to realize that most corporations are "REACTIVE" as opposed to "PROACTIVE", they will realize the truth in that post.

    all of your points are correct (albeit a bit condescending)-- however, one point he is trying to make(i think), which I whole heartedly agree with is:

    When I buy a car - I do buy one that is asthetically pleasing -- not to the extent of frilly blue neon, but something nice. The _most_ important part is what is under the hood--- currently I drive a 225hp car, and may not be the most curvy/stylish in the world, but it fits my mold. (power/control)

    Apply said to computer, and we have an attractive grey case, but with a freaking honkin cpu with bad ass mobo.(still no frilly blue neon)...

    (i have access to a few, and I much prefer an ibook with OSX, than the real thing.)

    uh, how will they know how many beers "john doe" drank, when he pay with cash? i dont think they will have surveillance on everyone all the time. try tracking 500 individuals in your bar _all_the_time.

    chances are, if they made it past your 'checkpoint', they are "in", and therefore, less of a worry than those coming "in".

    that being said - i'd still go buy the game (for Linux, and Linux only), as opposed to spending gobs of time trying to find and download data files...i've got better things to do, like post on Slashdot.
