I thought everyone without a huge legacy setup had switched from the archaic sendmail to something decent like postfix, or qmail long ago.
am i the only dork that decided to learn sendmail, and now have no issue with its configuration?? sheesh. i didnt think it was that hard -- ofcourse, i can see its complexity with a huge organization...but once its setup up, count on never having to touch it until an exploit is found (and these days, it seems rare for sendmail). oh well.... back to that cf file.
"Linux has been declared abhorrent, and offers nothing but perverse gratification" says MS exec. We are moving to push through legislation that will block and remove all sites converning this 'Linux'.
What makes you think that threatening to take away their license would work?
here in Canada, we go as far as a jail sentence for repeat offenders, and its not a light sentence... and having my license taken away for a year _is_ Hell in this, the second largest country in the world.
You can say that it doesn't matter, that the industry holds too much sway
infact, ianal- or a politican, but I believe, as do many Canadians, that the RIAA does not have sway or power like it does in the US - -
ofcourse, your intentions were different in your post - but, in all reality, as someone else has posted -- we do not fear these organizations, like Americans fear them.
most of us have no problem going to court, paying through the nose to defend our civil liberties. such as, keeping our personal information private -- and keeping large foolish companies out of our browsing/downloading/uploading habits.
Otherwise we suffer from the tyranny of the majority.
um - the idea of democracy is exactly what you are afraid of suffering from. -- if the majority decides that capital punishment is unconstitutional, then guess what? it becomes outlawed! imagine democracy at work.

i would love to be indebted to the companies that are selling me the products that make me better. its like the whole fire department thing -- if i cant afford to pay the 200,000 to have my house saved from the fire, the fire department will work out a payment plan, at a lower rate, so as to make it affordable for me to pay. what nonsense.
Hospitals are barred, by law, from refusing to treat someone with a life-threatening condition.
I wonder where this law came from? i'll take a stab, and say 'the law makers'. who are the lawmakers? oh, right, the guys who were elected by the people, to govern the people. and amazingly enough, they instituted a law that the 'majority' of people wanted.
whats the difference, with all your wealth, if you pay an extra $100 a year to help your fellow man? after all, you are all Americans....what happened to your patriotism? did it stop at your wallet?
But they are not required to facilitate those things either.
well, my friend, seeing as how you are the government (governed for the people, by the people, principle-- and the whole democratic, one man one vote system) - don't you think that you'd be giving 'yourself' a hand, if you had universal healthcare?
im a bit of a zealot myself - but in fairness to other OS', not particularly MS--if one was used as much as Windows is, I could be sure there would be many more viruses than currently exist, for say, Linux, currently.
this doesn't really take a lot of time. it simply requires banks to keep old notes, and replace them for new notes. this type of thing can happen in less than 2 months - take for example, the new canadian $10 bill. 2 months after it was introduced, it was "difficult" to find an old version. today, near impossible.
and before you say "but you dont have the number of bills incirculation", just add some sort of multilpier, we'll say 10 (cause we have 28 million people, and the US 280). add another 4 because of world circulation - so, 14. multiple 14 by 2, 28. 28 months. how hard is that? most peoples car payments are 60 months....
won't be using power lines to deliver Internet access directly into the home. this means that they need to put something on the poles, so that computers/people can 'communicate' with the network.
These wireless "boxes" convert data so they can be sent through the grid and this means that the data gets sent through the grid - to their fibre backbone, back at the office.
But damn, 500 billion spams, and that's only to AOL
i believe that this number is largely inflated --- not because I'm a spammer -- but because I cannot send mail to my AOL clients anymore, because AOL believes that I am a spammer. Which is simply foolish, because my AOL clients have asked for a return confirmation email of their purchases.
so...if this happens to me, I can certainly see thousands of other businesses with the same issue. Therefore causing AOL to inflate its number to unnaturally high levels.
Saddam still in power killing far more of the Iraqi civilians than the war killed and providing training grounds for all sorts of terrorist organizations (yes, including Al-Qaeda) to build up their scummy groups....If you don't think those training grounds were there, speak to some U.S. military personnel that helped bust them up like I have... you think Saddam was doing with his own people? Lavishing all the stolen wealth on them? HA! Get a fucking clue, dumbass.

in order to implement this the other way around - you would have to be sending them the bill.
Interesting, I could honestly see some car company not wanting to let you install an after market stereo. Especially now that several of them are trying to push things like XM radio, dvd players and like at the dealership.
this is a nice theory - however:
the whole US market system is driven by the sale of vehicles. No sales, means no gas purchases, which means no tax for the government, which means less social programs, which means the people who have been thrown out of work because the car manufacturers stopped purchasing parts like metal, leather, nuts, bolts, prefab parts -- will revolt, causing the downfall of the current US administration as we know it.
what this means is that there will always be 'after-market' products, because they are a huge segment of sales.
It's probably not too far off to say 99.9% of Windows crashing problems are due to operator error from installing bad drivers (from other manufacterers), installing bad hardware, installing crappy software.
probably. thats why, when I leave my computer running - I get VMM error blue screens (at work -- at home i run linux). Nothing to do with programming the virtual memory code...everything to do with my sound card drivers.

The one where Noah had to build an asbestos ark because the Lord was going to burn the earth off?
er no. the one where it was hot enough that the polar caps melted, and caused a never seen before flood.
and you call yourself a geek.
Now imagine a beowulf cluster of those.
yes i really could -- there would be enough heat generated to cause Noah to build another ark.
as a systems analyst, "If you want more secure software, upgrade" means upgrade to a secure OS, not upgrade the version of Windows Strain.
with my options today in the Open Source Arena, there really isnt much that Windows can do for me, that Open Source cannot.

US you can get much quicker treatment, especially via private clinics.
ofcourse you can - but only if a) you have lots of money, and sit snuggly into the top 20% of the nation in wealth
b) refer to a.

As long as the fee is small enough ( $1 per month per DSL connection) it seems fair enough

you are lumping music together with universal health care, education, and civil liberties. Do you really think it merits this attention?
