What a waste of 10 minutes of my life. There were no real guidelines on how to do this as the original title implied. This article is just filled with a bunch of stuff a 10 year old already knows. Anyone have any real links to how to do this??
Why the heck are we still focused on emulating windows right down to the exact contextual menus? Why not try to strike out on a new path.
I use OS X and I love it, but I also love mu Suse and I have always thought that a good GUI (ahem...not like windows) could launch linux into the stratosphere. Why spend time and effort "creating" a GUI that is already in use???
C'mon, don't waste your talents for another second!
I own 2 macs and a pc. I prefer my mac for my research mainly because of the GUI and Unix underpinnings. Since I do a lot of coding for my biological modeling work, the built in compilers come in handy. Plus, I like the fact that I do not have to worry about viri. I'll always keep a pc around for certain things, especially gaming, but my mac goes with me for work. It is a simple matter of personal choice. I personally would hate to have to give up my 12" powerbook.
Does that make it right for the Linux clan to do the same back to MS? I don't think so!
The problem that I have is this attitude I feel here with the/. crowd that they are taking the moral highground standing up against MS. All that is really going on is an attempt to copy Windows down to the smallest detail and label it as "innovation".
So what is so surprising about the fact that Linux gurus are trying to copy every single detail of Mac app GUI's? They already do that with Windows apps.
I'm 27 and I am still in graduate school. You want to know why? I changed my mind about the subject area of study right in the middle of things. I have a BS in Biology, and I have taken some 20 hours of graduate Biology work. Working in research, I soon found out that the money is really bad and that some computer experience would be very helpful.. i have since decided to get my MS in Computer Science and do a thesis in bioinformatics, combining my past experience with new. You might try something like that.
BUSTED, you mac zealot pricks. That was very funny Mononoke!!
I own a mac and I cannot stand those guys that continue to bash pc's, especially their rambling about Win2000, which IS a good OS. As far as the mac being cheaper, no way Jose!!! You can keep reviving your pc for a couple hundred bucks every two years....they can stay alive just as long as a mac can. That's totally bogus stuff in that article.
I'm sick of career politicians playing russian roulette with our lives. Forcing bad software down anyone's throat is bad, but to do this with systems that we depend on to stay alive as we fly, outrageous!!!
We need to be smarter about whom we elect to congress people. No more old people;)
Of course this is newsworthy, at least for us mac geeks!! If anyone has a mac.com email address, they need to reconsider using it as a primary email address. If important messages are being deleted without my knowledge, that pretty much makes it useless. Better to use a different account, unless of course you like playing russian roulette with your messages.
This is a great book idea for beginners

I'm a beginning programmer and it is a great idea to have a book showing the wrong way to do something for someone like me. It is near impossible for a beginner to go grab an Orielly guide and start learning from scratch. Also, most beginner's guides are full of directions and facts, but have no real-world examples. Usually, you get a 3 line example and that's it! Something like this should help beginner's to understand by showing what's wrong in a real programming example.
I don't think it is as they claim, "the fastest browser in the world", but it's not that bad. I really like the easy preference management and the ad is very small for the free version.

Too much Oblivion I see
Sounds cool but I'm wanting to know what is a fortnight?
I wouldn't touch that with a 10m cattle-prod.

NO SIR!!!
That will not work for this offer. You can only get it for $19 if you buy a new computer between now and OCtober. That's it. A huge rip off IMO.
So...

EA ia a powerhouse of a company and for them to stand up against M$ is great news for all of us.

What is this....star wars bashing day or something??
Still up in tyler texas, but i'm not sure for how much longer. DNS address changed and ip lease went from 12hr to 7 days.
