I'm both for AND against this (people living forever) for various reasons, but the last thing the world needs is for billions of old people to *not* die and get out of the way.
Computer Engineering - Basically Computer Science, but in the Engineering college. We had to take the standard engineering curriculum, which made it much harder, but more rewarding. Far less arts & humanities too! Also, there were 4 digital design courses, the last of which we designed & simulated a simple MIPS microprocessor (logic only).
Electrical Engineering - The hardware option, with obvious crossover ability into software. I've known programmers & sysadmins with EE degrees, but CS usually stays in the software realm.
In my opinion, the more hardware you do, the more difficulty there is, and people respect you more. Whenever I tell a nontechnical person my B.S. was in Computer Engineering, they're amazed. It's not that hard, really, but an engineering degree is an engineering degree. Even if I'm not an actual engineer.
Basically, I would recommend taking the most hardware you find interesting, because you can learn the same software skills in or out of the degree, but hardware education is much scarcer.
Sheesh. This is just changing rates to what they are for landlines. If you call someone long distance (or in this case, local toll), you pay a charge.
This is just charging for (semi) local toll calls, which is standard for land lines. The Cell carriers only paid the difference to encourage adoption. If you call someone outside of your local calling area, you pay the toll for long distance. I don't see what the problem is.
If your cell number is in another area code (like some people I know who moved and kept their number), everyone calling you from your new home will pay long distance. It's just the fact that cell phones can be irrespective of location that is confusing people.
So we're finally getting that technology from Enemy of the State? It'll probably take ten years (or more) to filter down to lingerie stores. Stupid scientists, can't keep up with Hollywood.
Maybe Hollywood should keep the science fiction to (futuristic) sci-fi movies....
I think it's absurd that pissing off a judge is grounds for dismissal. If a defendant insults the judge and the legal system, the defendant should be entitled to whatever they get, not dismissal and another not-so-fair-because-contempt-of-court=new judge trial
I saw a touch-screen watch by Casio at Wal-Mart four years ago...and I think it was under $100. It had all the standard features...I thought it was cool at the time.
Abusing bandwidth? I'm paying for it. My service agreements says that I am entitled to a minimum of 384kb down and 56k up (1.5M/128k max), as well as the right to run a server. That's half of the point of broadband.
I'm not paying for data, I'm paying for bandwidth. You may see it differently or have a different service agreement, but for $50/month and terrible phone support, I'm going to run grokster and use this krappy kompany's bandwidth(I know it's bad for me, but gnutella blows compared to Kazaa).
People in foreign countries have to pay per-minute charges on local calls too. That inhibits internet usage tremendously. If phone companies can make a profit, paid bandwidth and call time should be unlimited, IMHO.
I'm a fan of the original. It was great. Kickass hero, evil villans, and kung-fu fighting Wesley Snipes with a cape and sword (black leather outfit and body armor too!). I'm a sucker for Japanese style sword wielding heroes.
The plot was terrible. They just wanted some way to get Blade to team up with the vampires, so that it would be interesting. They failed.
Yeah, and the pseudoscience was 3X as bad as the original. Blade explains vampirism as a virus, blood condition and whatever. Blade II supposes that this reaper virus can drastically alter your anatomy (chin that opens up to reveal large sucking apparatus, bone-encased heart). Whatever.
Something this and other reviews failed to mention was the gore. I felt there was WAY too much gore. From feeding, to innumerable shots of those reapers opening up their chins to feed, and one semi-dissection. I really hated that. The first movie was good in terms of gore, it shows feeding and blood, as is necessary to depict vampires, but Blade II tripled it.
The action was great, but I didn't like those CGI fighting scenes as all. They were totally unbelievable, and obviously fake. VERY nice computer generated action, the best I've seen to date, but I only tolerate REAL kung-fu action, even if it is wire or camera assisted.
So anyway, I was thoroughly disappointed in this movie. I wouldn't recommend seeing it unless you really liked the first one (which I did).
Seriously, WHY CAN'T THE EDITORS CHECK THE SPELLING OF POSTS??????
This is so much less signifigant than checking the validity of posts! Can't they put a spell check into slashcode (uneducated proposal)? Or something???????

My toothbrush does recharge this way (a sonic care of some sort)
How about a wirelessly rechargeable vibrator? That's what the world needs!
At my school, there were basically three options:
Computer Science - No explanation necessary
Computer Engineering - Basically Computer Science, but in the Engineering college. We had to take the standard engineering curriculum, which made it much harder, but more rewarding. Far less arts & humanities too! Also, there were 4 digital design courses, the last of which we designed & simulated a simple MIPS microprocessor (logic only).

So 70 year olds drive as well as drunk 20 year olds?
Not that I disagree, but a systematic analogy like this doesn't speak well for old people. Oh yeah, I really hate driving behind 70 year olds.
So how does the Linux real-time stuff compare to this?
If they can make a watch run Linux, how about QNX?
Sheesh. This is just changing rates to what they are for landlines. If you call someone long distance (or in this case, local toll), you pay a charge.

And MBA's. The lawyers control your life, the MBA's suck all of your money out of you. That's the Microsoft Way (MW).

Dear god, can the editors not check the spelling on posts??? 2.500?? What, like the extra zeroes make you feel better about losing your legs?
FOR GOD'S SAKE, QUIT POSTING EVERY OTHER COMMENT WITH SPELLING ERRORS.

I hate to tell you (no, really I don't), but THERE ARE NO ALIENS IN LOTR.
Good idea. If you have to pay for data, then they should reimburse you for data they don't deliver.
Maybe...

BREAKING NEWS!!!!!!
---
Brain learns gravity!!!!
---
In other news, dumb people reported asking why they don't fall up....
It seems these scientists (and the Slashdot editors) forgot all the research that shows THE BRAIN CAN LEARN (and adjust).
StuffMaster strikes again
3d0228495ff52fa675967ba905cb9ba2
Just imagine a beowulf cluster of all these wonders!
It just boggles my mind!
Good point, except that medicine is largely rote memorization, and computers are largely logic (and memorization through use).
MANY people (especially sisters/moms/girlfriends) have little logic ability, thus little computer/programming aptitude
So who's the computerized character, me or you?
3:00PM EST is 3:00 PM Eastern Standard Time.
Didn't they teach you time zones in school?
Good job StuffMaster.
I wonder if I could get a beowulf cluster of these !
You misspelled misspell
16th post!!!!!
