Article that I put on my blog on the same topic.

Red Hat has split their product into two lines, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Red Hat Linux Consumer Edition (RHL). With this change they have changed their support levels, support lengths, and packages in the different lines of Red Hat Linux. With all of these changes, several which affect me directly, so I figured now is a pretty good time to re-evaluate our setup and some alternatives, such as upgrading to RHEL or switching to another Linux distribution

I've found to get compatibility with most dvd players all you need to do is set the book type to DVD-ROM. Then dvd players who's hardware can play +-R media but their software doesn't tell them that they can play +-R media will happily play them because it thinks it's a DVD-ROM.

The new versions of nero lets you set the book type, before that you would want to use DVD Bitsetter to set it on the drive prom itself.

www.dvdplusrw.org has info about setting the book type.

Several of you have discussed using NFS for cluster webservers to access a shared web root. My current setup uses rsync to distribute the files to the cluster nodes and I'm wondering why NFS? It seems that the rsync method would be a lot more failure resistant. If my primary server goes down the cluster nodes can serve the site as it was at time of failure. With an NFS server you would need a high availibility failover other wise all the cluster nodes are SOL right? I'm curious what the plus side to NFS is, maybe I'm missing out on something.

I just got the Linksys BEFW11S4 which is the product where they mated the wireless access point, with their cable DSL router, and threw in a 4 port switch I think the router alone is a 3 port hub? or maybe a switch. It was easy to setup using it's web based interface. It allows you to make one of your clients a DMZ Host for video confrencing, gaming etc. I'm assuming it forwards all ports to the Host when that is enabled, the docs doesn't say what it does and I have not tried it yet. Also it gives you the ability to set up port forwarding for specific ports or ranges of ports to up to 10 machines. It supports PPPoE, PPTP pass-threw, ipsec pass-threw, has mac address cloning. and has a build-in DHCP server. I'm pretty sure that it only supports 1 IP address. It would be cool if you could assign multiple ones and forward based on IP and Port. And don't forget it's a wireless access point, yay! It's been on sale the past 2 weeks for $199 at Best Buy, and Comp USA. It's priced lower than the Wireless Access Point. Go figure, that's all I wanted, I bought a WAP and got a router free.
