The article quotes Moore as saying he helped to post Assange's bail and he mentions others who also contributed. He doesn't appear to be claiming that he bailed out Assange himself.
As someone who shoots weddings as a side business, I don't need any more megapixels. For me, it's all about low-light performance. I'd like to be able to shoot in a dim church without having to resort to flash. I currently shoot a Nikon D200, which is 10 megapixels. That is plenty for everything I do, even enlargements. I'm saving up for a D700 which has incredible low-light performance. I've seen shots taken with the D700 (or D3, which has the same sensor) at absurd ISOs like 3200 or 6400 that have as much noise as my D200 has at ISO 800.
More megapixels actually introduces the (relatively small) problem of storage. More megapixels = larger filesize = I need to buy more compact flash cards and long-term storage. But, this isn't a huge problem since storage is relatively inexpensive.
Current does a 'Hack the Debate' live mashup of the debates with users' tweets. Anyone can tweet with #current in the message & current puts as many as possible on-screen during the live debate broadcast. I haven't watched it live, yet, but saw some vid of it and it looks really cool.
The original story (I'm the submitter) says that the main Debian site doesn't have the news yet. It has been updated to reflect the release between the time I submitted the story and the time it was posted.
Seriously, this is not really a logical issue. Regardless of the quality of Firefly, the fact is that it was not promoted. When the majority is completely unaware of something, how can the fact that they didn't tune in mean that they thought it was less than superb?
i think that's a stretch. i mean, he was sitting at the same table directly across from han. stevie wonder could've hit him. even if he was an amatuer, his gun was pointed directly at han when he fired. him missing is silly. if greedo shot first, han would've had a much smaller role in the movies.
also, I thought that greedo said that jabba was going to pay him handsomely or something like 'there's a huge bounty on your head' type of thing. that sounds like bounty hunting to me.
i agree. i'm actually not a huge star wars fan, so I feel kinda weird having this much of an opinion about this. i just think that it was unnecessary and the movie was better without the change. i just posted this in response to another response to my original post, but han was a rogue who became a hero throughout the original trilogy. by painting him as nice from the beginning, you lose that cool part of the story.
so, yes I agree that in the larger scheme of things, it's not that big of a deal. but, since we are in a star wars discussion, it's not out of place to make a comment that changes made to star wars were stupid.
yeah, i think that's why he changed it. but i think the point is that there was no point and the change is unbelievable. han was a rogue who lied, stole, cheated, etc. but through the original trilogy, he became a better person through trial, difficulties and love.
by painting him as a more sympathetic character from the get-go, you lose that metamorphosis.
The cantina scene in 'a new hope' was changed so that greedo (the bug-eyed bounty hunter) shot at han solo first, then han shot him back, killing him. the original had han just shooting him under the table. it's pretty rediculous in the redo since they're sitting at a table no more than 5 feet apart. greedo has his gun pointed at hans chest and shoots...and MISSES!!! He's a freakin' bounty hunter! he captures/kills people all the time. he wouldn't miss at point blank range. it's stupid.
Could this be used as a remote X terminal? I haven't looked into the prices of these things, so it'd probably be cost-prohibitive (or at least cost-a-lot), but it could be really useful to have access to my main machine's desktop as I walk around the office.
Yeah, I guess when you get to that level of resources, there may be problems. I don't have a 486 at my disposal, but I'd love to see what I could get running on one.
But, that's not the level of resources that the original poster was talking about. With the resources he mentioned (P166 32megs), he should be able to run Woody with little to no problems (assuming he uses lightweight apps and WM, of course)
I'm running Debian Woody/Testing on my Toshiba Libretto (P133 32megs of RAM). I usually don't use X, but when I do I use blackbox, with Dillo as the browser. Dillo's not incredibly feature-rich, but it's wicked fast even on this slow little machine.
So, I guess I disagree with the parent assertation that the current debian (even the next debian) won't work well on a limited-resources machine. Also the grandparent should check out dillo.
so, I should have to remember all the songs that I want to delete until I'm hooked up to my pc? deleting it on the fly and then having the software sync makes way more sense.
Yeah. Traditional broadcasters don't have to pay these CARP type fees. For traditional broadcasters, the record labels consider airplay to be promotion, and therefore waive royalty fees. With webcasting they claim that it is distribution, and not broadcasting and that they therefore should recieve royalty payments. Unfortunately, the DMCA backs this up.

Try this: :set paste
:set nopaste
That should fix that problem, but it has some other weirdnesses. So, once you're done pasting set it back to nopaste:
You could probably map that to a shortcut if you wanted to make it quicker. I don't need it that often, so I haven't bothered.

The news release is here.
Then, obviously, the bachelor is superb.

well, in my case, he broke all of my fingers.
weak! that wasn't supposed to be posted anonymously. Must've checked the anon box by mistake.

I am now grabbing my ankles, waiting for moderators to get ahold of this.

Interesting.
yeah, this is a good book. also it's released under the GNU Free Documentation License and is available to download in various formats here.
woot! This is my first 666th post.

there's only one god, there should be 2 or 3.
that mirror rocks! I'm getting 180+ K/sec on cd1 and 150 K/sec on cd2. thanks.
I thought the most unbelievable part of this survey was that the people would pay $3.85 for a single track.
