It will be a failure. Game consoles typically have a life of 5 years although Sony pushed PSX for 6 years. Not 1 year like you mentioned in your post. Xbox v2 (or whatever it is called) would go up against PS3 due in 2005. By the time Xbox (or whatever version) begins to make $ (if it makes $), Micro$oft will have lost billions of dollars. Even Micro$oft cannot afford to do this multiple times. If they were smart they would not make another Xbox system. They simply cannot compete with PS3, 4, etc.
They are terrified of it. Linux, Apache, Gnome, Mozilla, etc. is better than anything they can create and their free. The more they fight it the more it destroys them.
I agree with you. They should use their $ for good not evil. Later this year they will begin their $500 million marketing blitz for Xbox. This is far more than Nintendo or Sony will spend advertisng their systems.
They should spend less $ on advertising and more on develeping the Xbox.
They should spend less $ on eliminating competitors and more on fixing bugs.
They should spend less $ on high priced lawyers and more on R & D.
``We must continue to add new features and functionality, or else no one is
going to want our product,'' Microsoft spokesman Jim Cullinan said. `
Huh? Apparently Micro$oft wants people to upgrade their operating system by bundling applications. If they really want peope to upgrade their operating system, they would make Windows XP faster, smaller footprint, less bugs, more drivers, etc. Look at Linux. New versions of it (and distributions based on it) are almost always smaller (or just a little bigger), faster, more drivers, etc.
What is the point of omitting Microsoft's name from the post? It is true that some people have not heard about this story but I knew about it since last week from this
link at
dslreports. Similar stories were posted at
cnet and other news sites.
Having no knowledge of Argentinian laws, I cannot comment on specifics. However, all I can recommend is that every word of every sentence of the law is thoroughly checked. Does anyone know a link to a site with Argentinian laws? I have thought about this for a while and would agree with the lawyers that it is a complex issue. But of course I'm no lawyer.
The page is back up at Geocities. Apparently they took it down because they thought it was pr0n. That is what usually happens when thousands of people go to a file in a short period of time.
It is gone again. In fact, the
entire directory is unavailable for viewing. Geocities sux if they can't handle getting slashdotted. The page (mirror
here) is just text.
Ouch. That is a lot of $. I
see that you are using Apache 1.3.12 on Linux. Have you considered
downloading
1.3.19? Besides bug and security fixes, it is much faster.
It is also visible on just about every browser ever made unlike some sites. Many sites that go under have too many pictures, Macromedia flash, java, etc. and serves no purpose other than eye candy.
They don't care if we slashdot them. Their servers can handle just about anything. I also noticed that every time you reload the homepage the images change to something new. Go on and try it yourself.
Its only a few more hours before April 2 (depending on where you live, of course) and hopefully no more lame April Fools jokes. However, this could be true. This is likely to be the last post of April 1 and they expect us to think its another April Fools joke but in fact it could be true.
I submitted this news just a few hours after he (Orbital Sander) posted it and before your post.
2001-05-22 21:49:22 Apache 1.3.20 is now available (articles,apache) (rejected)
Oh well. I hope they accept my post when Apache 2.0 (nonbeta) is available.
Apache has run on Novell since 1.3.14. Too bad netcraft does not tell what version of Linux sourceforge is running.
A much better site is here. It has the original and the new trailer as well.

I wonder if Netscape, RealNetworks, Corel, etc. and Micro$ofts other biggest competitors get to see it? Oh never mind...
RealNetworks is joining AOL on PS2. Their press release says that Real Player 8 will be included with the PS2.

What happens when the law is broken?

May I ask what host are you using for your site?

What the fuck? Why would slashdot even think about posting this?
Its too bad this was not available when Noah's Ark was around. The unicorns could have been saved (if they existed, of course).
Whoops. After looking through the list I noticed that ServerConfig 2 for OS/2 is missing.
A long list of Apache configurators are here. This is the best list I have seen anywhere.

I recommend Virtualis. Patches are free of course. Patches should always be free.
I know its not really Micro$oft. The address, after being converted from base 10 to ip, is here. Spammers do this trick all the time.
