    DLP Design (www.dlpdesign.com) has some interesting FPGA modules. Some include a USB port that can be used to program and communicate with the FPGA. This has a USB port and a Spartan 3E for a reasonable price and includes tutorials. Combined with the free Xilinx tools you can do quite a lot with it.

    That kind of EMI filtering reduces interfering signals (coming in and going out), but does not eliminate them. If the signal is low enough not to interfere with other equipment that is good enough. The conducted emissions testing required for FCC, EC, etc has limits (more strict at higher frequencies). If the measured signal is below the limit you pass, but the signal is still measurable.

    You are dead on. The one thing you are missing is that they want it now, or even yesterday.

    I knew a sales manager who had a habit of relaying customer requests as you describe. If you did not respond with an unequivocal yes, it was always because you "just didn't want to" and never because the request was unrealistic. The same guy once asked "don't we already have that product" when investigating a customer request. Gee, it is not in the list of products, no resources were allocated for development and we never discussed such a product, but maybe the product fairy left it under a pillow last night.

    You are modded funny, but I've driven that stretch of the panhandle many times and the power windmills are a real improvement from empty, mostly flat, arid scrub land with intermittent oil pumps and stock yards. It actually gives the landscape a serene, modern appearance.

    The article talks about targeting aquaculture farmers, but I suppose it is possible the genetically altered tuna could escape into the wild and breed with wild tuna. Assuming the genes will be patented like Monsanto does with seeds, will fishermen be sued for catching such cross bred tuna?
