I had that exact same problem. Well, almost exactly the same. It took about 24 hours and a strongly worded email from me to get my account acvitated, even though my payment had cleared already. They told me they are having intermitent problems with their payment system wherein some accounts take longer to be activated then others. It was a frusterating start, but once I did get setup I've found Skype to be pretty awesome.

Before reading that article, and specifically that quote, I was literally planning on going to CompUSA after work to purchase an HP iPaq PDA. Not a chance in hell I'm going to support that company with my hard earned dollars now.
While I'm not ready to write off Beagle 2 just yet, this is certainly disapointing. I couldn't think of a better gift on this Christmas for all of humanity then the furthering of our knowlege of the red planet. Here's to hoping the holiday season has one more miracle left in store by way of a nine note Blur song eminating from Mars.

Seems to me this otherwise great product is somewhat tarnished, for me at least, by the fact that it isn't wireless capable. I mean, if I put this bad boy in my living room, that means I'd have to run an ethernet cable across my living room, through my kitchen, down a hallway, and into my room. Also, since I'm already jacked into the net via ethernet on my main Linux machine, which holds my mp3's, does this mean I have to get a second NIC card to plug the Receiver into?
This site has exceeded its limit of 3 Gigabytes of transfer for the month. You may buy extra Gigabytes of transfer by logging in to the user menu and choosing "upgrade".

I think you answered your own question in your post. Simple, for money of course. C'mon, the guy made off with $250,000. I don't think there is anything else on this Earth that would turn a normally law abiding citizen into a criminal any faster then a desire for money. Enron anyone?

Maybe I'm just a little jaded right now, but this sounds more like a circus show instead of a serious scientific experiment. I'm sure these are very complex robots, and the underlying idea is very interesting, but the whole BattleBots spin on it seems to trivialize the work. Now of course if he signs up Carmen Electra.......
Am I the only one that finds the AP photo just to the left of the article which pictures someone putting a hat on top of Bill Gates' head really hilarious? God it must be nice to be super rich. And here I am putting on my hat in the morning all by myself like a sucker......
