    What continues to scare me are the numbers of people that still insist how awesome Google services are. Threads about email? "Just switch everything over to Gmail." Hosting? "Use Google Apps, it's awesome." Photos? "Use Picasa.." Phones? "Oh, get an Android phone. Apple is evil."

    Google blew past evil and kept on going. They just did it right under everybody's nose.

    There's a difference between goofy fake name accounts and a nickname, or in the case of a lot of people I know.. "name that identifies me to my friends but I still need to be hidden from the general public."

    Friendster was just getting filled with crap..Ironically, Twitter is full of fake accounts, and they can be some rather popular ones.

    Google is a complete fucking pile of FAIL when it comes to anything related to customer support. They don't fix spam problems and spammers have been flocking to gmail/googlemail for ages now because Google actively protects them by hiding origin IP headers.

    Then they let users add stuff to Google maps, and guess what? IT's becoming a spam hole thanks to the hoards of Avon reps & home "Scentsy" businesses. Even in my sparsely populated area, i'm seeing several worthless mommy-biz entries.

    Google stumbles with this.. a lot.

    Good luck getting anything with a peanut in it on most airlines these days. They all yanked them because of our ridiculous fear that children will drop dead if there's a single peanut on the floor. (CDC stats show that the number of people that die from food allergies each year is actually very very low. Even lower for children.. but don't try to get stats past the mommybloggers, for they will all have stories about how their friends kid Kayley dropped dead when someone walked into the room with a pb&j.

    and they're using all of the Democrats that they've bought off. Hollywood = Democrat. Democrats = the ones pushing crap laws these days about "copyrights" and making it a felony to have a video camera in a movie theater.

    I have to agree with you. Aside from "It's not Facebook" and the usual "herp derp Google skeet skeet skeet" reactions, I'm not seeing any huge features in Google+ that would make me want to switch.

    The UI isn't that great, and it really is pretty confusing.

    I think that in 6 months, we'll see a lot of abandoned profiles.. just like other things in the google deadpool.

    I blame Outlook users, mostly.Run into quite a few people (usually managers too..hmm) that act like they simply CANNOT function without Outlook, yet they then claim they're so busy and spend 4 hours a day dealing with email.

    Sounds like some people are just slow, inefficient lumps.

    Good. No decent host would let you ever use a catch-all these days. All a catch-all email address allows nowadays is spam spam and more spam. My personal mail server rejected just over 10,000 emails yesterday alone. All addressed to (randomcrap)@(mydomain.tld) ... if I had a catch all, I would have received over 10,000 spam/virus/shit emails. Now multiply that by oodles of customers with many other email addresses, and you're catching *millions* of complete shit emails every day.

    catch-all = shitpool.

    This is what so many geeks USED to do, until somehow gmail came along and it was "l33t" because you had to have an invite. Remember that? Google does a fantastic job of creating an artificial buzz around products. They have done it again with Google+ too.

    Obama is not giving the "legalize it" crowd the answers that they want to hear, so they stick their fingers in their ears and ask it louder.

    We can't even get alcohol laws right in this country. Why do people think Obama can just wiggle a pen and make marijuana legal in all 50 states? He's said he wanted to leave it up to the states, and even pot friendly California has been seeing what can happen. Clubs wind up crime dens and have been closed down, and really it's done jack shit to curb gang activity. Sorry to break it to you, but the gangs have simply moved on to other markets.

    They also sued a bunch of other personal blogs, not just that political website. I hope Righthaven eats it in court and has to pay their legal fees. One of the bloggers they sued is known to me, and he's really been hit hard by it. Democratic Underground? Sure, to a point, but they very easily raised some funds. My friend? Not so easy...
