    end of November/early December, I noticed a significant decrease in the number of emails that were blasted to invalid email addresses.

    Still getting spam, of course.. and more of it is professional stuff hawking products from American companies like Gevalia, Shari's Berries, etc...

The blacklist that wasn't supposed to ever be used for commercial interests and was supposed to be 'to protect the children.' Now the MPA is saying to use it .. to protect their commercial interests.

    Newzbin doesn't host the files either. They're an indexer, and even these days I'd still say that there is a lot more perfectly legal content on usenet than not. There are still thousands of very active discussion boards, hobby boards, and more homemade copyright free amateur porn than you can shake a boner at.

    The MPA is pissing into the wind. Again.

    and it's my opinion that the biggest barrier to solar panel adoption in the United States right now are homeowner associations. My worthless HOA forbids solar panels. (Sadly, it is legal for them to do so under state law.. for now, Texas is trying to strip HOAs of that power)

    When I had an Android device, I was wanting to blame the cheap Chinese developers. Seriously. Some of the "apps" are just stupid soundboard apps and crap that shows you a picture when you finish a call. Completely worthless shit, but Chinese developers were just flooding the Android Market with stuff like that.

    The iTunes app store has a similar problem. Look at all the Chinese shit in the Medical category.

    Pretty much every single review I've seen of Flash on devices like the Xoom had the same conclusion - the Flash ads work great, but everything else sucks. Tried it myself on the Galaxy Tab less than a month ago. The entire Flash experience was horrible.

    So you're basically saying that because the iPad doesn't work on a few sites for little kids, it's inferior to the Xoom, which you consider a 'real computer' because it has Flash.

    Yeah. Got it.. *eyeroll*

    I wonder if this case would have gotten as much press if Righthaven didn't rile up Democrats & bloggers by suing Democratic Underground. They had sued several other bloggers before this, but the DU lawsuit is what really riled people up and got this in the news.

    They also went after emtcity.com, a forum run by a retired EMT. He has limited resources and this has been financially (and emotionally) draining. All because ONE forum user posted a few paragraphs from an article and linked to the article.

    Righthaven is the worst kind of troll. And I hope the Las Vegas Review Journal staff are utterly disgusted with themselves.

    This is why the thousands of illegal immigrants marching in the streets saying "Yes we can" piss me off sometimes. Millions of illegal immigrants clogging up our already overloaded immigration system. We have the same problem that Australia does - immigration is great, but we need more engineers & scientists, not roofers and hair stylists from Guatemala, regardless of how entitled they feel to be in the US.

    Aroo? The property tax might be higher (and it isn't 3 x the rate in California - at least mine sure isn't) but 2% of $140,000 is a hell of a lot less than the 1% of $500,000 that my Californian friends are paying on their underwater houses.

    California's property taxes are also restricted by Prop 13 - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_Proposition_13_(1978) ...and while it's a political landmine, I wouldn't be surprised to see it finally go away.

    The OB/GYN my wife worked for had this very same problem with yelp. After much legal wrangling and detective work, shw as able to track down the Yelper to a patient that was a drug seeking painkiller addict that she had refused to prescribe more narcotics for. The junkie took to Yelp and started sock puppet accounts and posted negative (and completely false) reviews.

    Really. LOOK at Yelp reviews. So many of them are based on stuff that is completely subjective and not grounded in reality. Look at the places that have been flooded with negative reviews by people that never went to the place but read about some perceived slight on some website. It's a joke but unfortunately it's one that can cause serious harm.

    tl; dr = fuck yelp.
