Actually, he hasen't written anything that I can see. If you actually check the project you'll see absolutly no downloads, no cvs commits, and only a two line description of what he *hopes* to build. My guess is he's just going to join all the thousands of other sf projects that are created and never have even a single commit. Very telling of the open source community in general, I think.

Then your presumption would be incorrect. It's a Macromedia file. It was built using Windows. Says something about Linux, doesn't it?

You could have just done a little research. I'm sure you had to do some in order to use Linux. And no, you don't need third party tools (no more than in Linux anyway). You just need google and the willingness to learn.

Really? So did I. and it gave me the error I stated earlier. But I think I know what you did. you didn't select the tools menu and then validate html, you did the keyboard shortcut (ctrl+alt+a), didn't you. The keyboard short cut does not call the web validator via url, but rather takes the code of the current form and submits it via a post. That is different since the referrer never comes into question. Now thy this, select tools from the webdeveloper menu and click validate html. Then tell me what it says. Bottom line; the slashdot editors are a bunch of hyprocites. they complain about ms all day long yet they won't even pass their pages to the validator.

You're also ignoring the fact aht your code DOES NOT produce the same output. There are some spacing and maring attributs that you are not reproducing in your code but was there in the CSS of the original Word code. There are many more problems with your code that others have not mentioned. Let me know if you want to list them.

It may be smaller code, but it's not the same code and so will not display the same. The formating is now gone. Also your code is no longer standards compliant. I see now why so much OSS code is crap.
